Bang for your Buck Sushi
As far as mid-range sushi is concerned (not as expensive as MF, not as cheap as Ru Sans), Harry and Sons definitely has the game on lock down. With a bar (alcohol, not sushi) greeting you to the right, and seating to the left, along with a back room and patio, the room is decorated with traditional Asian restaurant flare, though it still feels quite dated. Rolls like the "rainbow roll" are loaded up with fresh fish, though the true sushi lover will dig the thickly sliced shashimi. The friendly staff are surprisingly patient considering the joint is usually pretty full. Try a Tiger beer or split a warm bottle of sake with your date. Parking can be found for free along the neighborhood streets, but there is also a nearby pay lot.

Save cash: Noodle bowl lunch
I used to live in Virginia Highland (not "the Highlands" as so many of the uneducated residents now call it) and what's now Pozole used to be a place called Surin Thai Bowl, or "The Noodle Bowl" as my roommate and I endearingly referred to it. Now this was owned by the same people that own Harry and Sons & Surin of Thailand, but basically only did these glorious Americanized noodle bowls. Sadly the place closed but Harry & Son's still does one of the staples at lunch, the Chicken Noodle Bowl. For $7, you basically get a bowl of pad thai noodles covered in a curry broth that tastes like thai coconut soup, all of which is topped with grilled chicken. Its super filling, hearty and is guaranteed to leave you with nice to-go container. Sort of like eating pho, it's hard to eat both broth and noodles, but overall (esp for $7) this is a good lunch option.

Okay Food, Decent Price, Bad Customer Service
I have visited this restaurant twice. My first visit was great. The food was fresh, the service was prompt and the price was very reasonable. There were only two of us and it was about an hour before closing so there weren't that many people in the restaurant. Because iI enjoyed my first visit, I convinced a group of my friends (about 15) to go for a birthday party. We were seated promptly but the ordering drinks/food and actually getting the food took about an hour. By the time we got our food we were starving. The thai food that we had ordered was mostly cold, probably because they were trying to bring all the food out at once. Some of us returned the food to the kitchen and it was just merely microwaved and returned to us. The beef was rock solid and most of the food lacked any flavoring. My pad thai had dried out by the time i began eating it The sushi that was ordered had very bad coloring to it and it did not look even remotely fresh. It looked like the sushi that you get at the grocery store. To top it all off, we were charged 18% gratuity which is completely understandable since we had a large crowd. But for some reason, some of us were charged more than 18% and i ended with about 40% charge on the total cost. I called the next day, tried to reach the management, and they never called me back. I intentionally convinced my friends to come here for a birthday party since i thought it would be a great experience. However, it was quite disappointing and i do not think i will be returning in the future. ...
