We boarded two of our dogs here from 7/15/16-7/18/16. When we went to pick them up, my 8 year old Golden Retriever could hardly walk and had a baseball size lump above his eye. He was rushed to our Vet and she determined he had severe head trauma, he had been beaten. When we confronted the owner, we were told my dog bit his groomer and he was going to sue us. When I told him that was a workman's comp claim he then told me he was going to call animal control and have my dog put down. Not only did I not receive and kind of apology, I also paid the $1000 vet bill and the boarding fees of $236. Due yourself a favor, and read up on this place. They pride themselves that the appeal every lawsuit until you basically run out of money and he wins by default. There are numerous complaints on their facebook page under reviews and a website called www.ripoffreport.com, just type in Heidelberg German Shepherds and you will see some of the horrific things these people have done to animals. How they are still in business I do not know. We subsequently had to put our Golden Retriever down on 2/11/17 due to injuries he sustained while in the care of this monstrous place. Call any local vet in Houston/Spring area and they will tell you what an awful place this is.

I boarded my dog here in June. When I picked her up she had scabs on both her legs so I called the next day to ask what happened. I was told she must have rolled around on the concrete too much. I didn't think it was a big deal until I noticed she hurt when she was walking. Upon further inspection I realized all four paws were beginning to peel as if they were burned. It go so bad they were even pussing and oozing when they were seperated. She did not walk for close to 3 weeks and was miserable. I had to take her to the vet because she was in so much pain. She was put on tramadol and antibiotics for two more weeks. When I spoke to Wayne about it he didn't even apologize. He said she probably played too much on the concrete and it wasn't their fault. I even sent him the photos to show him the extent of her burns but he didn't care enough to reply. All four paws literally sloathed off and took close to a month to grown back. I trusted them to take care of my dog which included making sure her environment was safe to play in. Wayne did not even have the decency to apologize for what happened. DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE!!!!!

First, ask any veterinarian in the Spring/Woodlands area about Heidelberg and it's owner, Eugene Thompson. Just pick one. In fact, pick several. Second, call the Better Business Bureau. They give Heidelberg an "F". Next, read the reviews on other sites. The stories are literally horrifying. If I had checked up on them perhaps I would not have had a similar experience with them. Finally, go to the Montgomery County Courthouse and do a little reading if you have the stomach for it. Eugene Thompson's history, values, decency, and character are all on display as a matter of public record.

My husband and I bought a 6 month old female from Heidelberg in November 2008, she will be 3 years old in May and has been the best dog we could have ever hoped to buy. Typically, we adopt but we both agreed we would really love a GSD and honestly, Heidelberg has always had such nice dogs. I will admit I have never heard anything good said about them and when I tell people that is where she came from they are shocked. But I think its time someone gave them a good review! They were decently nice people and their dogs are top of the line. The GSD we purchased has been 100% healthy and the BEST personality, protection, and companion dog. I would buy from them again!

We are in the market for a GSD and went to visit Heidelberg. Very impressive facility. Attractive dogs. The only thing that registered on our radar was a bit of attitude (hubris is the correct term, I think) from their salesman. We were ready to give them the benefit of the doubt on the grounds that maybe "they really are that good", but decided to Google them. Wow!!! I've never seen a small business with more negative reviews. Still, I figured that if you sell enough dogs, you are bound to have some issues - and since I don't know details about their volume, number of problems, etc., it is impossible to quantify their performance. So I called our vet, who happens to also be a personal friend, and told her that we were looking for a good GSD breeder. Her response was sobering - she said, "I don't know anyone good off the top of my head, but for God's sake stay away from Heidelberg. They have way too many genetic issues". She works with the university vetrinary genetics lab and apparently Heidelberg have far more than their fair share of problems.
