High degree of UNPROFESSIONALISM and GOING BACK ON WORDS !! I read a lot of good reviews about Hewes movers and had a guy called Tyler come in for an on- site estimate for our move to Plano, Texas.... After looking at the whole house, he wrote on his estimate sheet 1 truck- 3 men and roughly gave us an estimate of $2800. The next day, when we wait for a formal estimate, another guy Bill calls us and tells us that the estimate is a $6000 !!!! Me and my husband were shocked at the very sound of it and asked him to go back to his guy Tyler and ask him. Rather than trying to work the things out for us when we were given an estimate by their guy, they started escaping us and stopped answering calls. We tried calling again and now their new found reason to avoid us was that two trucks were needed and that Tyler was the guy for local estimates. . I WOULD SUGGEST TO NEVER GO WITH THIS KIND OF UNRELIABILITY AND LIES.I have also attached the proof of their lie which is on their estimate sheet which Tyler got .VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
Today, Hewes Family Movers were in my neighborhood doing a great job for a new neighbor. They were extremely careful and courteous all day. I will certainly call on them when I need movers myself.

Hewes was able to move a 6 foot x 6 foot dresser up a set of narrow stairs that has sharp turns and a low ceiling. We were sure it couldn't be done and had hired 3-R Artisans to take it apart. They recommended Hewes and this morning Chris, David, Matt & Eric got that dresser up the stairs with no damage to our walls or ceiling. They were charming and professional. I am very impressed.

Our move with Hewes was one of the best customer service experiences we've ever had. The crew was polite, with each member introducing himself or herself, and conscientious. When they thought they had scratched a picture, they immediately brought it to our attention, and were relieved to find out it had always been there. They worked nonstop, and I've never seen 4 people work so hard so fast to get so much done. Their packing was incredibly fast and careful, their estimate of load time right on the money. They then beat their unload time estimate by an hour and a half. And the price? For what was done and how it was done, it was a bargain.

My husband accepted a job offer near Boston, MA, but they wanted him to start in less than a month! We got quotes from several moving companies, including both the big-name national companies and local, family-owned businesses like Hewes. Hewes had great reviews, was willing to work with us on our last-minute timeline, and was also able to work within the budget of our modest relocation assistance amount to give us what we needed. Other companies wanted to charge twice as much, move us in a large trailer with two other sets of stuff on the same truck, and give us a 3-5 day delivery window. Hewes did our move only on their genius van-trailer combo, arrived at exactly the move date and time we needed, and gave us the most reasonable price. We even had to adjust the moving itinerary by a day just three days before they were scheduled to load, and they made the changes just as we requested. On moving day, a team of three guys came and loaded our things. Because they have a van + trailer, they can load fragile things like lamps, pictures, paintings, etc. into compartments in the van that keep them protected. These guys were incredibly nice, worked very quickly, were very careful with our things, and according to my four year-old, "They're the strongest men I've ever seen!" The delivery team of two guys drove our stuff up, stayed in touch, and arrived exactly when we scheduled. They did a great job and were also super nice. Great company, great people, great job. Thank you!

We moved from one storage unit to one closer to our house and the move was so easy thanks to Hewes. The 4 member crew was friendly and efficient and fast. The process was easy - just a phone call and email and we were set - no problems.

I used Hewes Family Movers for a local move. Everyone person on the team was polite and professional. The greatest degree of care was taken with all of my furniture and the delicate pieces, art, flat screen and furniture were taken in a separate van to insure safety. They came in under estimate and saved me $. I highly recommend Hewes Family Movers!

Hired Hewes to move me from my home to another location within Atlanta. They packed and unpacked my POD unit quickly, wasting no time, and followed my instructions regarding where to place my items in my new place. They are very professional, work hard and, while I didn't have any issues, I feel that Bill would have stepped up to address any problems quickly and to my satisfaction. I will certainly use them again for my next move!

This was the absolute worst experience we have ever had with a moving company. We hired Hewes Family Movers to move our large appliances and some furniture across town to our new house, but the day from start to finish was fraught with damages and mistakes. 1.) Scratched/dented brand new Refrigerator 2.) Scratched brand new Washing Machine 3.) Cracked Plasma TV Pedestal 4.) Did not properly turn off the icemaker and washing machines lines and FLOODED the house 5.) Dented wooden banister & staircase. These are the most significant issues, but believe me, there were many more. To make matters worse, even though Bill Hewes indicated that we had full replacement value insurance, he has refused to submit an insurance claim or replace/repair the damaged items on his own dime, leaving us no other choice but to seek legal action.

I don't want to say anything that will further upset this customer. If anyone has any questions regarding how we handle problems and treat our customers I can always be contacted directly through our main phone number.
We have the best men and women in the business. We have completed over 1,000 moves while maintaining a top notch reputation. We have a 5 star rating at Kudzu, an A rating at Angie's List, and an A rating at the BBB. What makes us special is our people. We have people on board who are caring and competent. Most have college educations or are working on a degree. All of our folks are on a stable, upward, high achieving path. People I know that when discovering say, a wallet, MP3 player, or camera lost say a year ago inside a couch, are going to immediately bring it to the customer. People I can trust to hook up ice makers, washer and dryers, and set up beds properly (many moving companies won't do this sort of thing). Damage is rare with us. If it happens we have a network of professionals who can repair everything from the furniture we move to the homes they come in and out of. In the event of a dramatic loss we maintain insurance that covers the property we move as well as general liability to cover anything else.
Regarding this situation I feel I have gone way beyond reasonable and fair to get this situation resolved. When that did not work I offered to this customer to go to arbitration at the Atlanta Better Business Bureau where she has also complained. We have committed to this customer that we will abide by the findings and follow whatever the recommendations from arbitration. Since that commitment this customer notified us she is going to sue. Of course we will abide by whatever a judge tells us to do as well. I have worked very, very hard to try to make this customer happy.
Bill Hewes recently moved us from Atlanta to Portland OR and we could not be more satisfied with our experience.Bill was a pleasure to work with as he is a honest, friendly and trustworthy individual. He followed through with everything promised (down to the smallest detail). We entrusted all our possessions (some quite valuable) to Mr. Hewes and everything arrived in Portland, on schedule, and in perfect condition. I highly recommend Hewes Family Movers. We had extremely high expectations...Hewes Family Movers exceeded all of them. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to experience what a true professional moving company can do to decrease the stresses of a cross-country move. Thanks Bill!
