Worst moving experience EVER!!
This was the absolute worst experience we have ever had with a moving company. We hired Hewes Family Movers to move our large appliances and some furniture across town to our new house, but the day from start to finish was fraught with damages and mistakes. 1.) Scratched/dented brand new Refrigerator 2.) Scratched brand new Washing Machine 3.) Cracked Plasma TV Pedestal 4.) Did not properly turn off the icemaker and washing machines lines and FLOODED the house 5.) Dented wooden banister & staircase.
These are the most significant issues, but believe me, there were many more. To make matters worse, even though Bill Hewes indicated that we had full replacement value insurance, he has refused to submit an insurance claim or replace/repair the damaged items on his own dime, leaving us no other choice but to seek legal action.

I don't want to say anything that will further upset this customer. If anyone has any questions regarding how we handle problems and treat our customers I can always be contacted directly through our main phone number.
We have the best men and women in the business. We have completed over 1,000 moves while maintaining a top notch reputation. We have a 5 star rating at Kudzu, an A rating at Angie's List, and an A rating at the BBB. What makes us special is our people. We have people on board who are caring and competent. Most have college educations or are working on a degree. All of our folks are on a stable, upward, high achieving path. People I know that when discovering say, a wallet, MP3 player, or camera lost say a year ago inside a couch, are going to immediately bring it to the customer. People I can trust to hook up ice makers, washer and dryers, and set up beds properly (many moving companies won't do this sort of thing). Damage is rare with us. If it happens we have a network of professionals who can repair everything from the furniture we move to the homes they come in and out of. In the event of a dramatic loss we maintain insurance that covers the property we move as well as general liability to cover anything else.
Regarding this situation I feel I have gone way beyond reasonable and fair to get this situation resolved. When that did not work I offered to this customer to go to arbitration at the Atlanta Better Business Bureau where she has also complained. We have committed to this customer that we will abide by the findings and follow whatever the recommendations from arbitration. Since that commitment this customer notified us she is going to sue. Of course we will abide by whatever a judge tells us to do as well. I have worked very, very hard to try to make this customer happy.
