Himot, Edward D MD

My father was hospitalized with end-stage kidney disease. Himot treated the medical condition of my dad without one care about his emotional condition. Himot didn't even take the time to look me in the eye and treat me with compassion when he told me my father was dying. The nurse apologized for him afterward, and upon hearing her kindness, I wept. Himot was long gone by that point, without a care in the world. People like him should not be entrusted with people's lives and with their emotions.

My wife and I had to wait more than one hour for Dr. Himot. He did not apologize for making us wait. His staff appears not to care about the "flow" of the clinic. As far as his medical care of my wife, this remains to be seen.

I recently moved from Illinois to Georgia and was referred to Dr. Himot by a relative, not by my former primary care physician as Dr. Himot's office staff kept insisting. I was not able to schedule an appointment in a timely manner, but only for several weeks in advance. When I made the appointment by phone, I answered numerous questions from one of Dr. Himot's office people (name, address, age, what kind of medical insurance I have, reason for wanting an appointment, etc.). Two days before my appointment, another member of his office staff called and began asking the very same questions I had already answered. When I told her this, she put me on hold. After waiting on hold for several minutes, I hung up. A couple hours later, when I was away from my phone, someone else from Dr. Himot's office called to say my appointment had been cancelled because I was unable to communicate properly with his staff! I cannot recommend Dr. Himot based on the incompetence and dishonesty of his support staff.

I'm not sure what happened to the other reviewer to deserve such a harsh review, but my wife's experience has been just fine. He is friendly with her and takes great interest in our baby daughter (my wife became a patient of his while a maternity patient). He seems to take good care of her.

I ended up with Dr. Himot by the luck of the draw. He was assigned to me while I was a patient at Kennestone Hospital. He has a great personality and is very caring. He takes time with me and makes sure that all my questions are answered. I wish all doctors had his bedside manner.
