Overpriced and not to be trusted, 11/07/2013

This is review for Honda Carland dealership service department on Alpharetta Highway (Kudzu has no listing for dealership itself- odd). Took my 2007 Honda Pilot to Honda Carland for oil change,... transmission fluid change, alignment and brake fluid change. Got call from service guy saying I needed to have 2 " Compliance Bushings" replaced. Hmmmm.. no noticeable problems with our steering or suspension. How much to replace two very simple metal/rubber bushings (parts cost about $20 each). Honda Carland price quoted was $570!!!! Absurd. I called only one other dealer, Gwinnett Place Honda and was quoted $439 for exact same work. And excellent local independent mechanic shop will do the job for $285. After independent mechanic inspected the bushings he invited me into his shop to see for myself that the bushings were fine-- no movement in the metal parts and the bushings were intact except for superficial scuff marks on surface of rubber. Mechanic said the bushing absolutely did NOT need to be replaced. This experience confirms my belief that owning a Honda dealership in a high demographic area like Alpharetta is a license to steal. PS The dealer only did my oil change and transmission fluid change before I pulled the job. Cost before tax was $99.45. But then they added $12.22 (dollars) for "shop supplies". Really, for an oil and fluid change? That is another fabricated 12.28% (percent) phantom charge on top of what I was quoted.

The key and remote to my Honda S2000 (which I bought at this dealership) were stolen. I went to them to buy replacements. I cannot make this up. These people quoted me nearly $500 to replace the... key and remote!! Let me say that again - nearly $500.00!! And again - $500.00 for a car key and remote. This was classic highway robbery in its purest form. It was piling on me after my misfortune. These folks just wanted to see if I was stupid enough to pay it. When I expressed outrage, they treated me like I was trailer-trash. Thereafter bough the remote online for $65. and programmed it myself. Bought the key from Honda in Woodstock, programmed, for $110.00. Never, never, never do business with these criminals. The purchasing experience on this car was not bad at all, but whoa be unto you if you ever need to return to the dealership for anything ...

Terribe Has fallen off over the last 2 years

I had a horrible experience. I have taken my cars to them for 10 years. My Honda odyssey transmission died 3 days after they worked on the transmission at a cost of 1300 dollars, Today spent 1400 dollars for a check engine light that was not addressed with the repair. I will never buy another car or allow them to change the oil

Great experience for over 10 years

The Carland Service Center in Alpharetta has been taking care of our 2000 Odyssey since we moved to this area in 2001, and they've always done a great job. Prices probably aren't much worse than they would be at any reputable service center. We recently took the car in at 7:00 on a Saturday morning. There was a miscommunication regarding the work to be done. At 2:30 PM I was told the vehicle needed to have the rear shocks replaced and that they didn't have them in stock. I suggested that wasn't acceptable. By 4:00 PM they had located shocks and gotten them installed. Although they close at 4:00 on Saturdays, all the necessary people stayed late. At 4:15 they sent a shuttle out to pick me up. By 4:45 I had the car and was on my way home. Overall, these people have been great to work with.

They lied and ripped me off

So the guy there said they need to replace all the brakepads on my 2007 Honda Accord with just 25000 miles on it and it would cost $224 for the whole thing. They said I really needed to get it done so I went ahead and got it done. But when time came to pay the bill, I was SHOCKED to see the total bill was $385 instead of the $224 they said it would be, including tax and everything. Their explanation - the $224 was only for the front pads and the rest is for the rear. DON'T go there, I'm definitely not going back there ever.

They lied

I requested to inspect my car and paid $120 for it comparing to other Honda dealer in Atlanta offered $98. They told me that I needed to change engine mount as it's cracked and its cost $420 comparing the other shop offered $220. It turned out that all engine mounts were fine but need to change rear brake pad which they said it's fine. I don't know what they are looking at but if you really want to take your car at Honda Dealer, go some where else as you are going to pay higher price for unreliable services.

Happy here for 9 years

I tried going to a smaller mechanic that was recommended by a friend recently, and that was the only time I have had a problem with a repair in the 9 1/2 years that I have owned a Honda Odessey. The prices are not low, but I have not had any problems with this car and I feel it is partly due to the quality of service at Honda Carland. They offer a service discount-if you do all services at Honda Carland, then oil changes are free. The customer service people are knowledgeable and very nice. The waiting area is spacious and pleasant-with wi-fi access and places to work. There is a tv area with couches for people who want to watch tv and a play area for kids. The recommendations I have had from them always have been correct and the work has always been done 100% right. I have never had to return after a service or repair. I get all my service done there. I like to keep a good car for as long as possible and a good mechanic is necessary. I figure the amount I spend on the work done is better than having a new car with payments.

Great service and great CUSTOMER service

I've had my Honda Pilot serviced at several places in the Alpharetta area as well as other Honda service centers. I have to say that hands down Honda Carland is better. The service is excellent and the people are friendly. Their prices are a little more (by maybe $5-$10) than the lesser competition but I have learned the hard way that cheaper doesn't usually mean better. Unless they change the way they do business I will remain their loyal customer!

Disappointing visit

I've had a service coupon that was valid till May 0f 09. When I showed up there they've told me that the coupon printer have made a mistake and the coupons were valid till May of 08 and that they can't honor the coupon.A good business would bite the bullet and honor the coupon. But they didn't.Never going to come there again.

convenient and fast

I have never had a problem making an appointment with these guys, and my vehicle is usually ready before schedule. They offer transportation before and after drop-off. My family has been using them for over 6 years.

Good Service but Expensive

I serviced my cars with them because of the convenient location. Service is good but expensive. I like the free shuttle service especially the nice and friendly driver. Check-engine light was on on my Odyssey. They told me that I needed a new transmission and asked me how much I would like to spend. I told them $500. They quoted me $545 after "negotiating" a replacement with Honda dealer. I found it interesting and took the car to Gwinnett Place Honda, which initially quoted me $2000+ for the same problem. I showed them the $545 quote from Honda Carland and Gwinnett Place replaced and fixed it for $100 plus fees for other services. I still could not figure out the actual cost of fixing or replacing the transmission.

Ok Work

They aren't the price leaders but I have always been confident in their work. They also have a good location that doesn't make the wait seem too long.

Excellent Service

The check engine light lit up on my Civic dashboard and I took it to Honda Carland for check-up. It turned out to be a broken Catalytic Converter covered under Honda Warranty, Since it wasn't available in stock I was provided with a rental car for a day and a complimentory car wash. Extremely happy with the service.

Worst service - don't go there!

I have an Odyssey that I love. It runs great – never had a problem with it. I took it in for a 60,000 mile tune up and ended up with a $944 bill (even though it ran great before). I am big on keeping my car in excellent condition so I paid for the extra services/repairs they recommended. Since I got my car back it intermittently makes a loud clanging noise and the idle cycles radically up and down almost stalling. I called, described the problem, told them it didn’t do it all the time just on and off - they said bring it back in, from my description they thought they knew what the problem was. When I got there for my appointment the car was not making the noise and they said there was nothing they could do. The service manager John Garland was just short of rude. Despite my 30 minute drive and the $944 I had just spent with them he did not even offer to have someone look at the car – just said “if it is not making the noise now we can’t do anything”. This dealership should be ashamed – Mr. Garland was clearly not concerned with the problems with the car since they serviced it. I can’t believe that he has the word “service” in his title since he clearly does not know what it means. I do not recommend them. Go anyplace else for better Honda Service!
