Great food, the smell of the spices was fantastic, and every dish was as expected spicy, but not overpowering. We left at the end of the evening knowing we had eaten some spicy food, but still being able to taste the fantastic wine also.

Over 15 years ago, I think, this restaurant used to be the hottest dive joint in town. Lines going around the block, in the freezing weather, I went. Nowadays the lines are gone. What's left is the food that is now nowhere near as yummy as during their heyday. I don't need to catalogue what's wrong. The restaurant should know exactly where their weaknesses lie. It's sad and disappointing. Maybe they have too much money now? No longer hungry to be the very best? How very sad!

I would not visit San Fran without going to House of Nanking for hot and sour soup. The great food is no secret -- there's always a line. It's well worth the wait.
