I recently had my wedding rehearsal dinner at Il Localino, which is one of my parents' favorite restaurants. After eating there, I agree that it has to be the best Italian food in Atlanta. Besides that, the wait staff was amazing, and dispute the cramped classic Italian style, everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you!

I went here last night for Valentines Dinner and was shocked to see that they raised the prices about $7 on each entree and about $4 on the appetizers just for the night. The website clearly shows the regular (already overpriced) items, but once they get you in there they rip you off with adding on dollars for a measly bowl of plain pasta. It was supposed to be a romantic night but you could hardly hear your date sitting right across from you at a teeny tiny table in a cramped lil cottage of a restaurant. There is so much junk on top of junk on the walls, a fog machine, disco ball and strobe light and very very loud annoying music. Everywhere someone stood was in the way of another. They had decorated the place with hundreds of balloons but must of used cheap helium as they were slowly falling down and in everyones way. The lady who took our order may of been the manager and she was quite snappy when we asked about the set menu special since the price was so conveniently left off the menu since it was prob another rip off. I got the fettucini alfredo and thought since it costs $24 then it should be a HUGE bowl of authentic italian pasta. First bite I was proven wrong. There was hardly enough to share but even so no one wanted more. It tasted like plain noodles with milk. No flavor and a very milky watery consistency. My boyfriend had the veal parmigiano which he said was good, but def better at other places, esp since it was so overpriced.

When you first walk in it's confusing. It's like a classy Italian joint melded with a disco club, but the atmosphere is warm, the service is impecable, and the food is excellent. The veal parmesan is the best I ever had, by far.

Il Localino serves wonderful Northern Italian food, and they will make every effort to please you as a customer. It is a really fun atmosphere and they will even try to accomodate requests that aren't on the menu. Don't miss this spot!

The Il Localino experience consists on an intimately small building (its wall covered by photos of celebrities with the chef, very much what you expect from an Italian joint), a generous serving of just about the best Italian food this side of the Atlantic, spiced up by Barry White and a mirror ball, and all covered in very friendly and knowledgeable service. It is always memorable, to the point that I never leave without taking some of their business cards to share with my friends. However, while you will pay the bill + tip happily knowing that it was worth it, it is not inexpensive. I save it for special occasions.

Aside from amazing food, this place has an atmosphere that must be experienced to fully appreciate. Disco lights, fun music, hats, instruments, etc. Who knew a meal could be such an event. The owners make you feel as if you are coming home for a family meal. They are so inviting and accomodating (I often order dishes that are not on the menu). This place is not cheap (wine, dinner, dessert, etc.) but hands down a bargain for the whole experience. This place is in my Top 5 of all time.

I can't say enough about the folks at Localino starting with Giovanni & Gayle his wife who are the owners of this authentic italian place and thier daughter Mimi helps run the place. The food is great Northern Italian, the wine list is exceptional and the atmosphere is fun. Party hats, disco lights, and dancing on the tables top off the night!
