Ivory Mandarin Bistro

I've been going to the Mandarin for 3 years and have yet to have a bad meal or any negative experience with service. There food is excellent, and the menu is varied -- they have everything from typical eggs rolls and chow mein to more upscale asian dishes such as duck. Presentation of food is always wonderful, with a fresh flower garnish. The cool noodle salad appetizer is one of my favorite menu items, as is the singapore noodles. Every time I've been there, there are couples, families and groups and service has never been an issue.

I won't review the food as it is clear from the other reviews that this place is (1) good (2) authentic

I was shocked to read NO ICED TEA, NO SALADS, NO DAIRY -- HUH? review - WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ANYWAY? Would you go to a steak house and ask for chinese noodles? Do you go to a sushibar and ask for grilled lamb chops? Do you go to an italian restaurant and ask for hot dogs?

I mean REALLY? how obvious is that? - if you expect to go to a real chinese restaurant and ask for baked potatoes or cottage cheese instead of your rice there's something seriously wrong with YOU, not the restaurant - and most good chinese restaurants I've been to don't carry raspberry flavoured ice tea either - that's an insult to their culture where RICE and TEA are STAPLE FOODS

They had never heard of raspberry iced tea; in fact, had no iced tea at all. I didn't want rice; asked what I could have in place of rice. cottage cheese (NO), baked potato (NO); waiter was smirking by this time. I felt like I was in a foreign country. No dairy products? No salads? How do they stay alive? Instead, he brought me veggies which I would've gotten anyway so I'm thinking we'll probably never go back there. Most of us like a balanced diet, right?

It is always nice to eat at the Ivory. The food is good. They have a huge menu with a lot of choices. The service was great, and the food always comes out hot! This place is cheap, and if you look in the paper you can find coupons. I always enjoy a meal at the Ivory.

I would definitely recommend this place. We were impressed. The staff was very friendly as well as attentive to our needs.

They had no problem following my wife's instructions for my daughters meal. They got it right.

I had the Garlic Chicken while my wife had the Szechuan Chicken and they were both very good to say the least. With every bite I took, I kept saying to my wife, DamnThis is really good.

We also had the Steamed Dumplings and they were also enjoyable.

Prices were very affordable to say the least. Their lunch menu is a bargain.

This is how I would rate them on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being downright lousy and 10 being excellent.

The Food was an 8.75
Service was a 10.
Price was a 10.
Atmosphere was an 8.25

It is hard to find good Chinese food in the Tampa Bay area although I think we found it.

We live in St Pete and the restaurant is in Dunedin although we will definitely make the drive and go back and try other items on the menu. I have a feeling they have a lot more excellent dishes.

I have tried Chinese food from hundreds places in Florida and many States in this country. Ivory Bistro is the most outstanding Chinese restaurant among all. I sometimes ask for the Chinese menu to try the authentic authentic dishes like the ones served in China. Pipa tofu (soft tofu mixed with seafood and topped with brown sauce) is my favorite. Shrimp and Scallop in ginger sauce is also recommended. Though some dishes may be too exotic for my family and me but it is fun to read that menu.

I have never seen any Chinese restaurants with this friendly service before. Ivory's employees always serve you with Big smiling face :) Everyone really enjoys working and servicing you.

Don't just believe me until you yourself experience it!

This is the best Chinese food anywhere, not only in the Tampa Bay area. Service is fantastic! The only thing that could make the experience more enjoyable would be if they served brown rice as a substitute for the regular white rice.

Ivory's is the best Chinese restaurant's in the Tampa Bay area. After moving to Florida from New York five years ago, we have tried to find authentic "New York Style" Chinese cuisine. There have been many disappointments, but Ivory's never disappoints! They have the old Chinese favorites plus many wonderful specialities. Try the Red Snapper in their special sauce -it is outstanding! The vegetables, seafood, meat, are always fresh and of the highest quality. The owners and staff are always willing to please and make you feel right at home.

The term "Bistro" probably doesn't cross your mind when entering this lovely place but You will be pleased by the enormous attention to customer happiness and the friendliness you encounter throughout your experience here. The decor is light but tasteful, with many touches of "Chinese flavor" from the large fish tank with very exotic creatures to the background music. By no means is it overly done nor is it so fancy, you feel like you are underdressed. If you closed your eyes, you might just think you are someplace very far to the east.

The staff is amazing. They are very well groomed, courteous and with great attention to detail.
There is a wide variety of food choices; from the most basic "americanized chinese" to the more intricate and carefully prepared offerings. The portions are larger than one would expect and be prepared to take a doggie bag with you. It is an added bonus to be able to enjoy the Ivory cuisine the next day with your doggie bag of goodies. You get a lot of food for the money.

Do they get busy? You betcha. This restaurant is worth the wait. I have been there at the height of weekend activity to the quieter times during the week and the service and level of quality is never compromised. One very nice thing is that even on busy nights, they never make you feel like you are being rushed out the door. Take out is another choice and the wait is minimal. Bring your goodies to the nearby beach and have a picnic!

I for one, am hesitant to try new places for fear it will be money wasted. Word of mouth on this place was all it took to get me in there and I am hooked.

You do not arrive here simply to "eat" but to enjoy a wonderful meal, in terrific surroundings and be treated like you are the only customer there.

Whether you are nearby or all the way across the bay, The Ivory Mandarin Bistro is well worth the trip.

I love this restaurant. They don't only have a regular menu which has lots of variety to choose from , but they also have authentic chinese food from another menu.
