We are very pleased with our new addition and covered patio. All employees, from the foreman for the framing and roofing to the finish carpenter in charge of the inside, were extremely careful and professional. We purchased an expensive fireplace, high end fixtures and flooring and feel the end result is fabulous. The subcontractors involved on the project, including the plumber, electrician and flooring company all responded quickly anytime JJ Herbert needed additional work. If they were asked to report at a particular time, they showed up. The project was constantly moving, and not once did we witness inactivity. JJ Herbert made suggestions, accepted suggestions and we worked together for a great end result. VERY often individuals take time to comment when they are unhappy, unfortunately satisfied buyers are less likely to take the time to write a good review. Home owners who are not engaged in the building process, and are too timid to make suggestions and request changes, are less likely to be pleased with the end result. I am very particular and demanding and I had NO issues working with this builder.

Herbert is building a home in The Summit. Based on the work completed to date it should turn out to be a piece of junk. So far only the block work is complete. Some joints are missing mortar. Several blocks were installed cracked or cracked after being laid. The blocks in the back of the house are 1 ½ inches out of level and needed to be shimmed by the framers. The block cores were not poured with concrete and rebar to prevent cave in. Good luck to the new owner.

Even though I rated the quality of the product delivered by JJ Herbert & Sons as Average, I gave them an Overall rating of Poor because of the company's basic lack of professionalism. If you are looking to add a major headache to your lives (above and beyond the hassles that inevitably come with building a house), then the Herberts are your guys. If there is an opportunity to do so, they will handle it in a subpar way. Otherwise, I recommend finding a builder with a solid product and reputation who emphasizes professionalism in dealing with their customers.

Do not recommend this builder. For the high price of the homes he builds you'd expect good quality, but that's not the case. ie roof leaks (almost everyone in our street), uneven floors, numerous nail pops. The worst thing is the builder makes excuses right and left if he doesn't feel like fixing something or changing a building request. Some houses Herbert will fix out of warranty (ie 4yrs) others he won't.?! Many issues. Save yourself the aggravation and not take the chance.
