I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers. Jeff truly has the buyer's interest at heart and he is the ONLY ONE in the home-buying process who prtects the buyer's interests. All the agents want to do is sell the house, they don't care about anything else. Jeff will tell you exactly what you will be "stuck" with if you buy it. You can make a decision to get things fixed or not, but you will know exactly what's what. He really is what stands between being an informed buyer and an ignorant one. Don't rely on luck, be informed. It's BUYER BEWARE. The agents do hate him... it's hilarious! Jeff is worth his weight in gold!

If you want a home inspector who will breeze through a property and tell you everything is great, don't hire Jeff. If you want to know every single thing that is wrong with a house, from water and electrical issues, to foundation issues, to the door knob on a closet being stiff, you need Jeff. My husband hired Jeff to inspect his first home purchase in 2000. And, was thoroughly impressed. Few people have as much passion and interest in their work. When our realtor offered to set us up with a home inspector, we said, "No thanks!" We wanted Jeff Pope. In the middle of the inspection, the seller's realtor came over, said, "Hello," and left. My husband followed her to ask a question, and overheard her on the phone saying, "You've got to be kidding me! Know who they hired?! Jeff Pope, the Sale Killer!" Armed with Jeff's inspection report, we can now demand a list of significant repairs and/or a price reduction that will more than pay for his services. More importantly, we have the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly what we are buying, warts and all.

We made the mistake of purchasing a new home in Alpharetta and used a "highly reputable" national inspection company. The inspector from the national company spent 2 hours going through our 7,500 sq ft house and found nothing wrong. Within 3 days after closing we had already had to evacuate our house due to a gas leak and had water runing down the wall in our keeping room. Through an attorney we found Jeff, who came to our house and noted while driving up to our house that none of the windows were flashed -- he was right. Three hours later Jeff had discovered more than 180 items wrong with the house -- even obvious structural issues. Upon later contacting the firm that we originally hired to do the inspection, they claimed it is not their job to find things wrong with house (imagine that) but did say they would refund us the $650 it cost to have the home inspected through them. Had we hired Jeff before we closed we would have never closed. Let me say that if you have a new home builder that stipulates that you cannot use Jeff -- do not walk, but run away fast!!! If your realtor trash talks about Jeff, remember (s)he only earns a commission if you buy the house; not if you find out it is unlivable. Jeff has a reputation - builders and realtors hate hime -- and it is a reputation that he works hard to maintain. Let me say that after referring Jeff to several friends I can only estimate that if you used him you would be shocked.
