grossly overrated, 4/22/2008

Food was not bad, but nothing special considering the price. The drinks were way overpriced. The waiter was obnoxious and unprofessional. Although I left a 20% tip on a credit card, he still later... added unauthorized amount to the charge; I had to call and speak to the owner several times to have the overcharge removed. I'm not going back.

Awesome food but expensive - ouch, 4/18/2008

The Gazpacho was Ok, Sweetbread melts in your mouth, and Mango Pavlova goes on my all-time favorite desserts list. My wife's Artichoke lasagna was awesome, while her Lobster risotto and beignets were... pretty good. However, the bill was over $200, and that's without any alcohol. If I ever go there again, I'll try the 3-course $39 pre-theatre menu.

Good

I would say try it at least once. The food is good, but the portions are small. Larger portions would help offset the price.

Great food / highly pretentious

Food is A+...no question about it, but the service feels "rushed" and "artificial". Fancy place with a fancy price tag

Over rated

In this price category everything should be stupendous. We just weren't im[ressed with either the service or the food FOR THE MONEY. Did we hit a bad night? Oh well, we're not going back.

This place is very romantic and fun, the bar area is very happening and for dinner it's the place for a date, I had the scallops and they were incredible, I started with their thai soup and almost ordered it again after the scallops, but had a wonderful dessert their special that night and not to be missed

Great Experience

I booked a reservation at Joel's for our 29th anniversary. We had an incredible meal with outstanding service and at the end of our meal were presented (without requesting) a wonderful dessert congratulating us on our anniversary. It was quite a delightful evening and priced accordingly. THANKS!

Great Atmosphere

Joel is probably one of the warmest restaurants in Atlanta, in terms of atmosphere. The private dining room is exquisite. The food was great as well, but stay away from the salmon mousse starter. Desserts and drinks are excellent - especially the martinis!!

Not only for dinner

Yes, the dinner is amazing, but one should not overlook the bar. The drinks are generous and the mood of the bar is a great place to socialize.

Fantastic food!

Joel has some of the best french cuisine in the country. The atmosphere is sleek and modern, the wine list is extensive, and the service is professional. The starters are my favorite, and anything with the house made tortellini are lovely. Recently I enjoyed the peekytoe crabcake, roast lamb, and praline napoleon. For a change, enjoy the cheese platter with a great Bordeaux after dinner. Mmmm... You probably won't leave with a bill under $100, but each bite will be a work of art. The $39 tasting menu is a great deal!
