I rented from them previously. However, my recent rental was very "interesting" to say the least. The cost of my chair rental was under $25. When I went to pay him with a credit card, he said that there is a $25 minimum purchase (not including the $20 security deposit). I asked when did this change as I always paid with a credit card in the past. He responded on the lines of having to pass his merchant fees on to the customers. I asked him "Isn't that a part of the cost of doing business?" for which he responded "Not when it cuts into my profit!". So, I challenged him on it and informed him that one of my previous companies got into trouble for putting minimum purchase requirements. He responded "What kind of trouble I can get into? I have the right to refuse your card. There are over 10,000 merchants reps I can deal with to get my credit card services through." Uhm, it is not about refusing my card, it is about you coming up with a minimum to cover your fees, which is a MERCHANT VIOLATION per Visa and Mastercard, logos that are on your door for which you advertise you proudly accept. So, being that I was in a crunch, I paid in cash but followed up with Visa and Mastercard. I will be filing a complaint with my credit card companies about his practices as this is unfair to the customers he supposedly served for the last 27 years. Also, I did not even see a $25 minimum sign posted.
