Additional services available are repairs and restoration to sculptures and art pieces, and expert restoration of mid-century pieces.
Joe Bailey, the owner of this family run company, was born into a furniture making family in Vermont that had the old world tendencies and mindset. His uncle, Francis 'Bud' Carpenter is a world renowned clock maker/woodworker who studied in The Black Forest of Germany. He keeps the family history book dating from 1612 when their ancestor, as an Irish indentured servant, became the town carpenter of London, hence the family name Carpenter.
As a child, Joe.. quickly realized through his training that it was challenging for him to cut straight lines, but he was able to hide any mistakes quite well by working with artwork and finishes. He holds a strong passion for the look and feel of wood and the natural artwork that God provides in graining, colors and texture. After years of studying and becoming a starving artist in the 60's, he mixed his woodworking heritage with his art training and endeavored to started crafting exceptional woodwork.
With a slogan and mindset of 'make wood look good,' Joe built his business from the ground up and has been following his dream ever since!

Joseph Bailey has done a couple of things for me. He most recently refurbished a dining room table for me , which I was afraid was a hopeless piece. But he worked his magic / art on it and it's so gleaming and gorgeous now. He comes highly recommended! Iv'e not seen better work!

I know it sounds too hard to believe but it's the absolutely true! I bought my first real piece of furniture from JoJo, and about 6 months later gave him a rocker to restore as well. I think my words were, "save it if you can". He laughed, smiled and in no time not only restored my piece but I swear it looked probably better then when it was new in the 1930's! I couldn't believe it! It was and is so amazing. I love his work, and have actually made a really good friend too which is the best part! He inspires me too keep working on my own pieces as well which is priceless. I highly recommend JoJo to all my friends and strangers, and I never do that unless the person is that good. Well, he is THAT GOOD, and worth every penny and a lot more!

After getting back my childhood high-chair, I realized that it really needed to be refinished. I called and talked to many people to get quotes and ask questions and Joe had reasonable prices and listened to what I wanted. After getting the work back I was AMAZED at how well it looked. He even put restaurant grade clear coat on to protect it from the abuse a high-chair receives. If you want to give an old piece some love, don't hesitate to take it to Joe.

I found Joe Bailey on Kudzu and reached out regarding a table I loved that needed significant repair. Joe promptly responded to me and confirmed he could take care of it. When I dropped the table off, Joe immediately knew all about this unique table and gave me every assurance I was in good hands. Picked up table today and was overwhelmed! Such a great job. It looks amazing and I could not be happier! I recommend him wholeheartedly!!!

The multiple positive reviews of Joe's work convinced me to have him focus his skills on my beloved family rocker. Joe works from his small shop at his home. He cares about quality and applies his skills with care. I left the rocker with the only instructions as to do his best and take as long as he needs. Excellent results as seen in the attched photos. And fairly priced. His next project from me may be my 200+ year old mantle clock.

Bought a cedar chest from before I saw the finished product. Liked it so much that I gave him 2 chairs, a bookcase and another cedar chest to repair & refinish. Have only gotten the chairs back @ this point and he went above & beyond in repairing them. I highly recommend this guy. He does the job like each piece is his own. Hard to find craftmanship like this these days.

I was gifted a beautiful "music" table. A Music coffee table. She looked like an upright bass guitar. She had gorgeous curves and wonderful wood tones. She was music to my eyes... Only someone failed to take care of her beauty. She had fallen into disrepair. She was distressed... unloved.. and sat crooked because she was missing her shoes. Joseph Bailey took her home and gave her tender loving care. He tuned her up... sat her up straight and worked his magic on her. He rubbed her wood lovingly... gently.. and removed her stains.. and scratches that had been unkind to her through out the years. He gave her a new coat of stain.. and waxed her wood to a high gloss. Joseph lovingly gave her new life... to do what she was created to do...and that was to be the MOST BEAUTIFUL MUSIC coffee table ever!!! Thank you Joseph for your tender loving care...and for your god given talents of working with wood. Thank you for giving new life.. to what others would think of as ....just a used up piece of wood. I have more projects in store for Joseph Baileys Wood Restoration. This company is expedient.. professional... and affordable.

A friend recommended Joe Bailey as being very talented with all kinds of furniture restoration. So I e-mailed Joe with several questions. He was quick to reply - great communication. My hesitation was to drive 1 hour each way to drop off the chair - and then to drive it again after the chair was done. Bottom line - it was worth the drive. The cane seat was replaced like it was new, and Joe perfectly matched the seat to the cane back of the chair. To top it off, he e-mailed a series of pictures to show the entire process. If you are looking for perfection, look no further. Thank you, Joe!

I needed a dining room table refinished after a couple of moves and a few years of neglect. Because the table was special to me, I spent a lot of time researching the work of various craftsmen in the Atlanta area who could bring life back into my table. I found Joe through Kudzu and arranged to see his shop. I was absolutely floored by the craftmanship he demonstrated and by his love for wood. He showed me other projects he was working on and I couldn't believe anyone could bring life back into some of the damaged pieces others had brought him. I knew he was "the man" for my table. After a reasonable amount of time it was ready... all I can say is "WOW!!!" My table is absolutely incredible and it now has a hard finish yet feels like silk to the touch. My Thanksgiving house guests were impressed and the table withstood the meal none the worse. I highly recommend Joe!

Joe does a good job. He will make everything at first glance look good. Just don't expect the inside, backside or underside to be looking good. He is very expensive! The highest in the area. I expected more attention to the entire piece after his boasting about what he would do to restore my antique especially for the enormous price charged.

sean , do i know you ? have i done furniture for you ? what piece are you talking about ? i did notice that you have other bad reviews posted for furniture refinishers , are you in the refinish business or just a professional bad reviewer ? i would be glad to address your problem personally if it is true , i never let a customer go away unhappy , and certainly never overcharged, i am certain my prices are way below market..
I needed more than restoration. I asked Joe to convert a TV armoire into a different piece to use in my living room. He took the vision I had in my head and made it a reality. I have had the piece back now for some time and each time I pass by it, I stop to admire its beauty. You can really see how much Joe enjoys what he does through the beauty of his work.
