We got a reasonably priced estimate to install a fence in our backyard from Joyner. We decided to go with a wooden fence using cypress slats and 4" pressure treated posts. We paid the full amount up front and they took their time to get out here and install it, but I will acknowledge that summer is a busy time of year for their business. We were told it would take just a few days to complete. It ended up taking over 3 weeks. I guess when they have your money there is no incentive to complete the job in a timely manner. We did negotiate a free gate for the delay in completing the work. We followed their recommendation to seal the boards. Now it is 3 years later and several of the cypress boards are warped and breaking. At the beginning it was an attractive fence but it's not a very sturdy fence. The slats are nailed in with something that looks like a staple. About every 3 months we have to go around and re-nail the boards back in due to our dog (who is a miniature dachshund) jumping up on them. Our next fence will be more sturdy and we'll only make a down payment!
