Bait &Switch Experts, 7/08/2014

I called and got a quote to replace clutch on a Pontiac that suddenly went out. I was quoted a price that was slightly higher than the Local Chevy dealer but Kams could do the work a day earlier. ... Had the car towed to Kams & the next day I was called and told the price was going to be nearly $400.00 more because they needed to install the dealer supplied part because the clutch could fail if it wasn't a dealer part. Stay away from these rip-off experts.

This is the second time I have visited. Both visits have been friendly and felt like home. Very nice, honest and reliable. I would recommend this buisness to everyone in and out of the acworth area!!!

$$$

I have used Kams for many years until they built their new shop and the prices went sky high. My son's car needed brakes and rotors (2011)Kams wanted almost $600 to do the work. I found another shop that did the same work for $250. Sorry to say I will not use Kams in the future.

Knowledgable and Fair

You never know what to expect with mechanics these days. I am not one, so I expect the one I choose to be honest and fair with me. I will be going back to KAMS, as I appreciate the good service.

Good experience

I have had a good experience with Kam's for two consecutive times. No long waits, prompt service, and personal updates by the owner himself. Prices are definetely not overinflated. Such a convenient location too!

Strike 3

Kam's was always busy and has been around a long time, so I tried them for fuel pump that went out last March. They were quick and friendly, but after repaired, I filled up gas tank and as I was getting back in the car, noticed stream of gas running out under the car and just thought I over filled tank. Headed out of town and at next fill up, same thing happened and check engine light came on, so headed back home and back to Kams. They attached the piece that they had left undone at the top of the tank for no charge. Now 13 mo later, check engine light is on again. Lean fuel mixture. I took it to my usual mechanic and was told that Kam's had put wrong fuel pump in my car. Kam's says it is the right pump, but the problem is that I chose an aftermarket pump they offered rather than OEM part. At the time, it was explained to me that it did not carry the same warranty as OEM pump and it cost less, but basically the same. Insurance companies use aftermarket parts all the time and I shop store brands all the time and am satisfied with the quality of them. So why should this be any different? I trusted them that either part that they sold would work in my car, so I chose the aftermarket fuel pump. I've learned my lesson and hope that Kam's has learned also not to even offer inferior equipment. Maybe a man would have known better, but I didn't and trusted Kam's for the reasons stated at the beginning. The owner has offered to refund a portion of the cost of the pump.

Great Job

Replaced the timing belt (does not have a timing chain) on my 94 Nissian V6 SE extended cab pickup at 139,000 miles. Quick, efficient and a reasonanble price. Made some good recommendations ....like.... "we have to take the water pump off to get the timing belt, so it would only cost the rice of the part to just have us put a new one on". Great suggestion.

Expensive & Rude

The receptionist is very unfriendly. I paid $24 to replace a lamp and $185 to replace park plugs. I will never come back.

Warning do not trust them.

Horrible service. Two weeks after getting my car fixed it breaks down with the same problem and they want 2000.00 more. They talk down to women and treat us like ignorant idiots.

Shocked at negative reviews for KAMS

I am really "shocked" at the negative reviews for KAMS AUTO. Don't let 1 or 2 negative reviews keep you from going to this auto repair. Afterall we do not know the integrity of the customers that have left negative reviews or as they say "the WHOLE story". KAMS must have thousands or more happy customers just like me because if you drive by the place it is always packed! I don't even price compare because that is not what is the most important to me. I want an honest, friendly place that does quality work and that is why I go to KAMS and will always go to KAMS. If all you care about is how cheap you can get something done, then you will find out you get exactly what you pay for. KAMS might not claim to be the cheapest around, but they could and should claim to be the BEST around.

A mechanic a woman can trust!

I will always use Kams for my auto service and repairs. I was instantly put at ease with Ken, the owner. He listens to my concerns and checks them out. He always explains what I need and why and does not treat me as a dumb woman. I find his prices very fair.

can't even make simple diagnosis

Had them look at my vehicle that would not start, 2 hours later they tell me I need a $860 computer, yeah you read it right (269 at the parts store). After I got over the shell shock, I took it to a friend of mine and less than an hour later and a piece of wire to replace a broken wire, it was running fine. Ken, the owner, wanted to argue with me about the repair and insisted that my mechanic "patched or bypassed" the real problem that they wanted almost a grand for. Don't use these guys unless you just have money to blow, and if that's the case, find me and I'll kick you in the butt and take your money. Either way, you end up with the same result.

Poor quality and total customer indifference

From a personal perspective I am uncomfortable writing a negative review of a business performance. However in this instance the public should be aware of a poor experience by some one who used Kams service.I share responsibility for poor judgement. My wife brought one of our vehicles in to check the front brakes. The assessment and cost of repair was so outlandish that we elected to have the repair done by the dealership at significantly less cost. The second instance had to do with a belt replacement. During the course of repair, even an unskilled mechanic would check components related to a belt failure. This was not done. Some five or so weeks later the car stopped running on a major thoroughfare. Kams was called and the car was towed. Ken, the owner of Kams refused to acknowledge any responsibility for the failure even though the part that failed was an obvious and integral component of the belt system. I was charged for the tow and the replacement of the pulley tensioner. Forewarned is forearmed.

Good work - bad attitude

I know quite a bit about automobiles and do most of the work on my vehicles. There's always a time where I need someone with some specialized expertise and tools to do things like troubleshoot drive train problems, etc. which is why I went to KAMS. Had a friend who referred me there. The owner Ken is a nice guy and knows his stuff. Unfortunately, his employees aren't doing his business any justice. I was completely talked down to regarding a repair/install I needed their help with even though I had a valid concern. I'm not one for putting up with customer no-service given all of our options around town so I found a new place called Vandergrift Auto Service in Cartersville...just another 9 miles up the road. Even though Vandergrift's is a little further I don't hesitate to drive past KAMS to get there because I know how I'm going to be treated by those guys and their level of service is top notch.

Good Repair Shop

I've used KAMS a number of times for work on my trucks. They are fair, honest, and ethical. They know what they're doing and know how to treat the customer. A good repair shop is hard to find and I'll continue using KAMS.
