Katies Formal Wear

I spent a good deal of time looking for my bridesmaid dresses in Seattle. I visited many stores and have a good sense for what is available, as well as each store's process and customer service. If many of you have spent time looking for dresses, you know it can be exhausting -- especially if you are looking for a specific style of dress. I walked into Katie's Formal Wear and was very pleasantly surprised. Katie greeted me warmly and as I described what I was searching for, she guided me with excellent knowledge of the designer lines she carries and provided me with absolute attention. Indecisive on my end, I believe I came back a total of three times just to select a dress. Each visit, she spent a lot of time with me and we finally found a dress that I believe is beautiful and elegant (and each bridesmaid called or emailed me when they received it to say just how much they truly loved it which was amazing, as it is so hard to find dresses everyone even likes). I chose an indigo color that I am using throughout the wedding so Katie provided me with a swatch so that I could use it for matching to other items. She also quickly ordered the dresses and they arrived early (I realize there are many variables involved so anything could have happened, but it was wonderful to have them arrive sooner than expected). I also had questions about alterations for each girl and she provided me with information on the phone as well as through email. One of my bridesmaids lives in Seattle and she had Katie do her alterations and was very happy with the result -- and the changes were turned around quickly. Last, I returned to her store to try on the dress with jewelry and she worked with me as I tried to figure out what looked best. I have truly enjoyed working with Katie throughout this entire process and will always remember her for her warmness and excellent customer service. I will plan to visit her when I have personal alteration needs in the future. Thanks Katie!

I went into Katie's Formal Wear last summer because I was ordering a bridesmaid dress and they carried the same brand. Even though I didn't order it from her becuase the bride was paying for them in Colorado, she measured me and helped me pick the correct size. I of course still had to get it tailored (most dresses need it)so I took it into Katie's and she quoted me a price of $30 to bring in the sides, and said it would be ready in a week. She told me to bring my shoes in when I picked it up to make sure it was the right length. My dress was ready in a week and fit perfectly. Most other bridesmaids paid between $75 and $200 to tailor their dress, so I think I lucked out finding the right place to go. She was so helpfulI will definetely go back and recommend anyone goes there....

The owner of Katie's bridal stated that she could alter the dress that I had bought from her, turns out that the dress was unwearable and she stated that there was nothing she could do, and then asked I knew how to sew!! I had to take the dress elsewhere where it was altered so it could be worn. Katie's indifference to allowing me to leave the store with an unwearable dress was so unprofessional, and there are many other stores to choose from. So, avoid this store!!

The service at this store was very disappointing. My 15 year old daughter who wears a size 6 was told to help her do the alterations by losing 3 pounds. I was appalled. When we returned, the dress was way too big, so we had to have it altered again. Throughout it all, my daughter remained the same weight and Katie kept telling her to either lose or not lose weight. I think it is never appropriate to tell a 15 year old to lose weight. I would not recommend this store.
