My daughter has been here for several months now, after we switched her from another daycare. I have been very impressed with the cleanliness, organization and management of this facility. It is such... a relief to be able to leave my daughter somewhere that she feels safe and enjoys her time here very much. Her teachers are patient and kind, and effectively communicate with me regarding her progress. I definitely recommend Kids R Kids Pleasant Hill Academy to my friends and family in the area.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

I have worked at different schools, including Gwinnett County Public Schools, and have found this school to be one of the best. The owners and directors are deeply engaged and truly care about the school's families and the well being and education of their children. The teachers go above and beyond to make impactful relationships with their children. I have personally seen my two children thrive here and learn so much. I love working here and view this place as a home and the staff as my second family. Anyone who is looking, not just for childcare, but for their child to grow to their full potential should not hesitate to come to this school.
All 3 of my children have atteneded this center from the infant room all the way through school-age. The staff is always friendly and welcomes us with smiles each morning. The enrichment programs they offer are amazing. My daughter loves the Mandarin Chinese classes that are taught and she comes home singing in Chinese all the time. The front desk staff always listens to my concerns and knows me and my children by name. I don't feel like just another "number." I am very pleased with the care that my children have received and would recommend this center to any one who is looking for a child care center for their child.
I am very happy with Kids R Kids Pleasant Hill! I am a very involved parent and drop by the school often and I am always comfortable that my babies are being taken care of. When I have had concerns (which have not been often over the last 4 years), they were addressed promptly and with true concern. If you are looking for a place to really care for and educate your children, definitely give them a try. You'll likely see me there!
As a mom, I have to trust where and with whom I leave my child. This school leaves no doubt in my mind that he is at the right place! Time and time again, my child comes home with new information and knowledge that continues to amaze me. My husband and I work full time jobs and love that this school feels like an extention of our family. These teachers love my child like his is their own and that means the world to me. I love everything about it from the Parent's Night Outs (which are great for a parental Saturday night out!) to the fun and exciting field trips. I will continue to send my son here until he's too old! :)
I pulled my daughter out of this daycare after about half a year. It seems like almost everything the kids eat is either out of a can or a box - at least half the food. At home, we eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and grains. My daughter was picking up bad eating habits from her daycare. It seems like they feed the kids the absolute cheapest foods they can buy, which makes me sad (and ticks me off a little, considering I'm paying good money to put her in school there). Their front desk staff is nice, but their teachers....let's just say if some of the teachers approached you on the street looking to babysit your children, you'd think to yourself "there's no way I'm trusting you with my kid!" Very unprofessional appearances, bad attitudes....you really get the impression they are doing this for the paycheck rather than a love for children. I have heard on two occasions one staff member muttering untoward things under her breath about the children. My daughter was sick constantly when she was here. Security at this facility is pretty poor as well (people slip in and out during dropoff and pickup without signing in, no door codes, etc). Parking is a nightmare when it's busy, they need a parking lot double that size. Overall, I just couldn't justify continuing to take my daughter here when there are so many better facilities around with more professional / pleasant / intellectual staff, better facilities, and higher standards.
Thanks for posting. I wish you would have taken as much time to address your concerns when your child was in our care. You posted anonymously so I'll address your concerns now:
At Kids R Kids Pleasant Hill Learning Academy, we feed 200-250 children breakfast, two snacks, and lunch daily. Our menus not only comply with the guidelines of the Federal Food Program, they exceed them. We offer hot breakfast, fresh fruit (seasonally available) and yogurt for morning snack, a variety of culturally diverse meals which appeal to children for lunch, and snacks which include whole grain crackers and limited 100% juice. We also consider religious beliefs and allergies when feeding each child. Substitutions are offered to accommodate special dietary needs. Children are picky eaters. We do our best to satisfy them and their parents.
Our front door is monitored by management, and there is a security lock that we control. Customers are nice and often hold the door open for each other. We see this. We also have security cameras monitoring our parking lot, doorways, and classrooms. Parents who follow our procedures DO sign their children in and out electronically. (It seems those who do not are those who owe tuition.)
Gwinnett County and Duluth required 22 parking spaces. We have 28, and have an agreement with the Gwinnett Clinic to use their parking spaces as needed. During busy drop-off and pick-up times, we offer carpool. Most customers are understanding and allow extra time during these peek times. (Perhaps your car was hit by another who was pulling out because you were in too much of a hurry to wait for them?)
Most importantly, I'm sorry you found any of our staff members to be rude or unprofessional. Our managers would have corrected this immediately if we had been made aware of your concerns. Every staff member is well educated in early childhood education and group child care methods. They go above and beyond for the children. They want each parent to spend a few minutes each day talking with them, rather than dropping and running. This helps ensure that parents are happy with the care their child receives. Perhaps the staff member was annoyed the child arrived with no coat in December. Maybe the child arrived sick and medicated to mask it. Perhaps she was frustrated because the parent hadn't provided diapers or a clean change of clothes. Perhaps she realized she would spend her morning bathing the child who came in wearing last night's dirty diaper. At Kids R Kids, we understand that parents are overstressed and busy. It takes a village to raise a child. Perhaps you could have communicated better and you would have been happier, as I know our teachers care. Maybe for you, a nanny would have been more appropriate. Because, more than 200 other Kids R Kids Pleasant Hill Learning Academy customers don't have the issues you did.
Once again, I'm sorry you had a bad experience at our location.
I am absolutely thrilled to have such a high-quality place to send my child. The staff are very attentive and are glad to speak with me regarding any concerns I might have about my kid's growth, behavior, etc. We are always greeted with a sunny "hello" and they seem to know each child and parent by name. They have FUN field trips too! And the fact that so many school teachers bring their kids here only affirms my view of this place.
Thanks for taking the time to post such positive comments about Kids 'R' Kids Pleasant Hill Academy. Our staff works very hard to provide a positive environment for children and their parents. We appreciate that you noticed!
My child attended another daycare in the Duluth area that was slightly less expensive than Kids 'R' Kids. Due to some safety concerns, we made the switch to this school. We are so pleased with the teachers, the management, and what my son is learning. We feel that we definitely are getting our money's worth here and would recommend Kids 'R' Kids to anyone who is seeking 1st class childcare.
We've been with this center 3 years and have been very happy. If any concerns arise, the owner is prompt at addressing any and all concerns. The director is wonderful and willing to work with you. The private pre-k lead teacher...well, we can't speak highly enough about her and her abilities with teaching the kids. My child will go off to kindergarten very prepared. Overall, it's been a great experience. Update- we left the center in 2010. The replacement Director was beyond rude..over and over again (even the staff complained to me about her). There was a lice outbreak in the school age room, and they neglicted to inform all rooms (my son was in toddler room, but I also have a school ager-my school ager was enrolled in school for aftercare). I was told by a teacher (who also said it was wrong they were keeping it a secret). When I asked the director, she was so busy talking to a staff member, she literally threw the paper explaining what happend and precautions to take. The final straw was summer registration for my school ager. The director was RUDE regarding tuition enrollment for the summer!!! So, I gave our notice and left. I called several times and left messages for the owner, but she never called back. It's a shame, because the center is good, but the director (when we were there) lacked people skills.
At Kids 'R' Kids, it is our policy to post notification of any communicable or transmittable illness on the door entering the affected classroom. We recently added e-mail notification to the parents of the affected classrooms because we realized that many parents did not take time to read the posted material. In addition, we have installed a Zonosanitech machine (the only such sanitizer in the Duluth-area pre-schools). The "Zono" has helped us to greatly reduce spread of communicable diseases. (See our website for more information about Zonosanitech.) As with any relationship, effective communication is important. We're sorry that you had a bad experience with our previous Center Director; she and the teacher of whom you spoke no longer work at Kids 'R' Kids. However, our owner still remains on-site daily, and is always available to customers. I hope that you would consider giving us another try in the future.
My 2 children attended Kids 'R' Kids #27 for nearly 10 years. The staff was always attentive to our family's needs, typically went above and beyond to communicate with us, and truly cared. Our children entered elementary school with the confidence and independence necessary to grow up in a big world. The teachers at Kids 'R' Kids prepared them well -- taught them not only their early level academics, but also about problem resolution and how to get along with others in large group settings. Several long-term employees still are in touch with my family. Thanks for a great experience!
My child started attending this school in August 2008-Jan. 2009. Durning this time the three year old class went through 7 different teachers. Their was no stability at the center and the staff was often rude or failed to acknowledge your presence when you walked into the building. My son began to cry every morning has we pulled up to the center. The homework sent home was not age apporiate and I do not feel like my child learned anything during his time at this center.
We at Kids 'R' Kids #27 are sorry that you had a bad experience. WE DO NOT BELIVED THAT YOU WERE ATTENDING OUR LOCATION because no 3 year old boys enrolled and withdrew during the timeframe you mentioned. Our "younger threes" class has had the same lead teacher for seven years and our "older threes" class has had the same teacher for more than one year. Neither teacher sends homework unless requested by a parent to do so, as this is not usually age-appropriate. This business is all about communication -- OUR managers would gladly have addressed your concerns if you had only spoken with them.
When searching for a daycare for my 10 month old daughter, I looked into Kids 'R Kids #27. They received a Center of Excellence award and high marks from the state website (Bright from the Start). However, I was very disappointed after viewing the facility. The people were pleasant, but the tour was rushed. I was told that they were at half capacity because it was summer, but I felt like the kids were tripping over each other. It was too noisy, too crowded, too visually stimulating...too much! I chose a smaller but equally qualified facility and couldn't be happier.
We at Kids 'R' Kids are sorry that you did not choose us for your daughter. We believe that you and she would have been quite happy here. In response to your review, we did not request that you make an appointment to view our pre-school. We invited you to come whenever it was convenient for you. This policy shows our potential customers that we do not "stage" center visits. Often, visitors come during transitional times, during customer drop-off and pick-up times, or when little children are at play. Scattered toys and noise may be considered overpowering to adults. We recognize that this is productive and age-appropriate for children. Our management is glad to spend as much time answering your questions as you need, while still managing the business for our current customers. We're glad you're happy with your current care. If this should change, please come visit us again. We are confident that you will be Impressed now that you are more experienced.
This center is kids friendly. The staff is very friendly, understanding & caring. They listen to parents & children as well. Another good thing about them is that you can watch your kid online when he/she at the center through Parentwatch. This also shows their transparency & confidence in what they do. I feel comfortable sending my kid there.
