Awesome Wedding Reception, 6/05/2011

We recently had our daughters wedding reception at Kimberton Inn. Jeff, Jason and staff did an amazing job. They worked with us on all the details that we wanted to incorporate to make it a very... special day. Both our daughter and myself tend to be perfectionists and everyone at KI did not fail to deliver. The food and service were top notch. The hors devours were fabulous and the fact that each guest could choose their entree at the reception was a big hit. The servers were amazing at making sure every guest was taken care off.Everyone of our guests said that it was either the best reception they had been to in a ling time or the best reception they had ever been to.If you are considering having an event there I don't think you will disappointed!

Appalling - Spend your money elsewhere!, 11/11/2010

I visited the Kimberton Inn as a possible wedding venue. When I arrived with my best friend who is also my MoH, a man whom I assume is Jeff Effgen asked us to sit on a bench behind him as he was... finishing with another bride. I assume this was his name after looking it up online because after he was done with them, he turned to me, said: ""You must be Kelly"" and never shook my hand or introduced himself. After that, he looked at my MoH, who is a month older than I, and made an insulting remark about her age, guessing her to be my future mother-in-law. Within three minutes of walking into the establishment, he set a very uncomfortable tone for the visit.\r\rThroughout our meeting, he asked lots of questions which he then guessed at my answers and then responded to them himself. The conversation was completely one-sided. He kept 'quizzing' me on things such as number of chairs I would want for my guests but before I could answer, he'd go off on a tangent about how long he'd been in the business. This happened four times for this specific question. When I finally answered him, he went into a lengthy explanation of why I was silly to request the number of chairs that I had.\r\rHe then began asking me about my menu choices. I explained that I didn't want a traditional sit-down dinner. He began asking and answering his own questions on this topic as well and then abruptly told me that he had carved out two hour for me to explore the venue but since he didn't think I had the stamina to discuss my wedding plans any further, he was going to let me go for the day. When we asked to see the main dining room again, he motioned for us to go alone. When my MoH asked for a packet of information to take away with me, he responded that in all his years in the business I was only the third person to request a non-traditional wedding and he had nothing to offer me in terms of written information. He then referenced my 'lack of stamina' again and told us to holler if we needed anything

Horrible service and food for the price - better at a diner

I just want to express my feelings after having dinner at your inn last night. We have eaten there before and if I remember was very good. We had 8:00 reservations and we did not get seated until 8:40. We sat at the bar and did not get waited on for 10 minutes. We finally sat down and when we were ready to order, you were out of the special that two of us were going to get. We were not offered bread or anything ? we had to ask for it. When our meals came back, one person in our group had to send it back twice ? she asked for medium and both times it came back rare. So the third time, the piece of meat had been tortured and barely could eat it. You offered her a free drink ? hello?. After we paid the bill, your waitress came back and asked if we wanted a free dessert ? no thank you ?we just wanted to get out of there. And to think we picked your restaurant instead of Seven Stars to celebrate two anniversa ries. \r\r \r\rI?m very sure I will not be returning to your establishment and will be spreading the word. In this economy, you would think you would be treating your patrons a little better ? we spent over 200 dollars and a free dessert would not make up for the service and food. We all came home and had to eat leftover pizza that we got for our kids.\r\r \r\rThanks for an anniversary we will never forget?\r\r \r\r

Wonderful 200 year old Inn Hidden away in Chester County

Get in the car and start driving, when you get to Kimberton (just the other side of Phoenixville) you have arrived. 200 year old Inn that charms you with every aspect of your visit. Excellent food prepared and presented with great attention to detail. Very extensive wine cellar that is the pride and joy of the owner. All of their servers seem to be quite well versed on the wines as well. For a really great treat and value make a reservation for their Sunday Brunch, at $22.95per person it is an unexcelled value with off menu selections not some belly up to the bar buffet. They also have very nice facilities for groups. Romantic, Authentic, Charming. Kimberton Inn has it all. Also in the winter several fireplaces throughout the dining area are lit which makes for an even nicer ambiance. You will be very happy you made the effort to seek out this Gem!!!
