Horrible experience, impossible to schedule the massage, then very difficult to find a place, and once you finally get there the lady makes sure to tell you you will not be getting a full hour and that you have to fill out some papers beforehand. Very rude, horrible service, left without even getting the massage. Avoid at all costs!

If I'd read these before my visit, I may have missed out on something great. I had a few challenges, my call to set an appt wasn't the best but I didn't let that stop me. I actually took my mother for her bday & forget to print the coupons. They wouldn't accept the info on my Ipad, another setback but that was my fault, so I took it in stride and went to my job, printed the coupons and was back in 10 mins. I was concerned that we wouldn't get our entire 60 minute service but Fred was phenomenal & Kim, who's the owner, my mother was enamored with. It turned out to be the best gift ever, because I was able to give her a great massage and get one too. Everyone's experience is different & based on personal perception so do your due diligence and check things out for yourself. Sometimes, esp. in my case, it was worth it. I've already referred friends and will be making another appt soon.

PART TWO - Instead I received a call from a very flustered Kim who EVENTUALLY identified herself as the owner of Kimochi. She very angrily explained that SHE had been trying to call me for three days but had been unable to reach me because SHE wrote my number down incorrectly - definitely seems like I'm not in the wrong here, right? I explained to Kim that 6pm would not work for us on such short notice. Again, with a lot of attitude, Kim goes on to explain that a workshop is scheduled between 9am and 5pm, which is why our appointments were moved to 6pm. I told Kim I can appreciate that, but on short notice, it just wasn't possible. I asked Kim about my Mother's gift certificate and whether we could be accommodated beyond the expiration date which is a little over a week away. This began a debate of whether I had purchased a voucher or a gift certificate. I thought I had purchased a gift certificate, but honesty, it was a year ago and hasn't been in my possession since that time. I asked if it mattered which one I had as far as honoring it past its expiration date. Kim advised that it did not matter, which begs the question as to why I was asked.

The worst massage ever! I needed to release some tension and have a great massage...due to working all the time. I went in trying to relax and the massage therapist kept telling me to not fight the massage and relax. Most of the time...I fall asleep during a massage. Not this one. I thought maybe I needed some good pressure to release my tension. Two hours after my massage my shoulders and neck started to tighten. I knew I was in trouble and drank lots of water. The therapist advised that I stretch and take a hot bath. After...he asked me if I had to go back to work. When I said yes, he looked shocked. Needless to say, by that night I was a wreck. The hot bath made it feel better...and then worse. My shoulders and neck were swollen and hurt to the touch. I had to take a pain killer. The next day...I had to still work just in horrible condition. I had to ice my shoulders and neck and still was in pain. My finance convinced me to call and ask why I was in such pain. The owner explained that I probably had a pinched nerve or toxins were released in my body. Well how the heck did that happen? I was fine going in...no injury or anything. I always go to Spa Sydell when I need some tension released in my back and shoulders...but was trying to find a cheaper way. Well...you get what you pay for. Never go to this place. Ever!!!!

This was by far the most uncomfortable and bizarre "swedish" massage I have ever had, and I have had many. (I say "swedish" with quotation marks because I've never had one where my stomach and throat were pressed on like they were here. Or one where my toe and finger bones felt dislocated.) I arrived early for my appt, but b/c they couldn't find me on the books at first we started late, so that cut the one-hour massage I had paid for to 45 minutes intead. I don't know who the masseuse was since she didn't even introduce herself - she was very brusque and unfriendly, and the tempo of the massage was fast with such hard and sudden movements that is was the opposite of relaxing. (It was probably better that it was cut short since an hour would have been borderline unbearable.) I have never wanted to say "ouch!" so many times during a massage. Everything was just incredibly uncomfortable, which she blamed on my breathing. This is the first time I have ever NOT given a tip - usually I tip $15-20, sometimes more, but she abruptly left the room and I didn't see her again so I left it at that. I had a discount voucher so maybe that explains the bad service, but even if that were the case that's a pretty poor business approach.

I love Kimochi!!! I have been getting massage at Kimochi for many years and would highly recommend it. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. You get not just a massage, but a healing experience. The staff is very kind and professional and I have never had a massage there that I didn't enjoy. Everybody on staff can give a great massage. The new location is great and my loyalty to Kimochi is a reflection of how I feel about the place. Kim the owner is excellent! She has trained world wide and offers a great variety of services as well as a being a great community advocate in the healing and creative arts. I've been here twice--the first time was extremely positive. Fred was very professional and gave great service. The second time was with some woman who never introduced herself. She was so rude when I presented my Half Off Depot voucher that I considered just walking out. I didn't though and after an hour walked out more stressed out than when I came. The only reason I gave any stars was because my first visit with Fred was very positive.

First of all, you never get a live person to talk to when you call them, so you have to leave a message and wait for them to call you back. When making appts they are trying to RUSH you and on top of that talk very rudely!! I do not understand how this place is supposed to RELAX you when they obviously do not understand how to talk to people politely. Very rude!

I called this spa to book an appointment I. They were unprofessional and rude. they booked and cancelled my appointment all in the same 5 minutes. When I got off the phone with them I was unclear as to whether or not I even had an appointment not to mention she was very rude. 4 minutes after the original call i receieved a call to confirm my appointment from an unknown person with minimum effort appology for the previois cleaks rudeness. But no thanks I think I will pass I have enough confusion in my life...spas are supposed to be relaxing!

I called the spa at 1:20 PM to request detailed information about the location since the specific address did not register in my GPS. I never received a return call and arrived at the spa at 2:10 PM because I started my quest at the wrong end of Monroe. The reception area was vacant when I arrived and one other customer waited. A women came out to greet everyone and asked who arrived first. When I explained I was here for a massage, she said she needed to inform the therapist. Another woman (I can only refer to her as 'she' or ‘her' because she never introduced herself) came to the reception area and asked if I wanted a 30 minute massage (no greeting, introduction, or water offered). I said no and explained that I had a Half Off Depot voucher for a 60 minute massage and would have arrived earlier if she returned my phone call. When I explained that my voucher was stored on my i-phone, the woman refused to accept it. I asked the women if she had a printer and she told me to leave to get it printed and re-schedule my appointment. I told her I was no longer interested in receiving services and would request a refund. She said that was fine and she was sorry I did not come to my appointment prepared.

Kim was able to work me into her schedule when I was having some severe anxiety issues as a new client. My friend had referred me to her specifically, and I am so grateful for that. Kim not only gave a GREAT massage which helped me TREMENDOUSLY, she is friendly and spent time just talking to me.

What a wonderful and convinient service! When I left the massage I felt renewed. Thanks to the wonderful staff and the beautiful, peaceful sanctuary. Kimochi is truely a retreat in the heart of the city!
