We recently got a quote from Kirkland when our heating unit stopped working while we were out of town. We went with another company that we felt comfortable with and the cost was considerably less. Well, we got a knock on the door from the city. They said that Walt from Kirkland called to report that we didn't have a permit. We weren't aware one was need to replace an HVAC unit but we talked to our HVAC company and it was an honest oversight and they are taking care of everything to make it right. It left me speechless that they would take the time to involve themselves in business that wasn't theirs. If they were honestly concerned about following the rules they could have called us to make us aware of the permit issue. I have called Walt to see if he had a valid reason for calling the city and reporting our HVAC unit but not surprised that I haven't gotten a return call. I cannot rate them on their work product but their customer service and business ethic is very poor.

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge your concerns as our company, Kirkland Air Conditioning and Heating, always strives for 100% customer satisfaction. When we service, change, or provide maintenance on heating and cooling systems we do place small stickers in a few key locations with our company name and information. Many customers find this information very helpful when they experience an unexpected failure or need a unit replacement and are seeking a quality company that is familiar with their equipment, home, and comfort needs. Occasionally customers do not desire these stickers, so we returned to your home to remove them at your request. While there we noticed that your HVAC equipment was being replaced and I am comfortable with the fact that you selected another contractor to perform this service. Having served in the past on the Mecklenburg County Mechanical Standards Advisory Board, and many other industry trade associations, I have learned a great deal about the importance of county permits and inspections. They play an invaluable role in quality installation and consumer protection. I spoke with the inspection department on an unrelated matter and in the course of that conversation I asked if a permit was pulled for your address. As all contractors are aware that permits are required when replacing heating or cooling equipment, it is not uncommon for them to make such a request. It is the responsibility of us all to maintain high industry standards and watch out for the best interest of consumers. In this case that was exactly my intention for you and your family. If we can ever be of service to you in the future please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Walter
Technician was prompt and courteous. He inspected my entire system and gave me a fair and upfront price. I am very happy and would recommend to anyone.

Thank you very much.
We had them out over the weekend and feel like we got ripped off. It cost us $545.00 and when we checked this morning with our neighbor he had the same experice a few months back. Checked at Lowes and the breaker they replace sell for less then $30 that is $415 for 1/2 of labor

We looked into this complaint as soon as you posted it and could not find where this had taken place. I wish you would have called our office so we could have made an effort to resolve the issue. Walter Kirkland
