Don't Trust This Owner, 2/20/2010

I used Klein North numerous times b/c a coworker recommended it highly. Being a female, I always wanted to find a trustworthy mechanic. Well, this is not one of them. What angered me most was when... I took my car to him one time when I suspected my alternator was going out. I informed him that I had received a notice from the dealer but never took care of it. He called "someone" that said the recall did not apply anymore. Trusting him, I left the car and went back to work. SOmething told me to call the dealer myself and check. Sure enough, the recall was still in effect and would be replaced for free. I immediately called to inform him about it. He stated that they were already pulling the engine out. I told them to stop and I would be there to pick it up. When I arrived, he proceeded to charge me $300 for the "work" they had already done. I was ticked off but felt I had to pay in order to get my car. Looking back, I should have stopped payment on the check. Months later a different mechanic informed me that previous work I thought I had done (spark plugs) was only halfway completed. He showed me how only the front ones were replaced and the back ones had never been touched! What a crook. Not to mention one time the owner of Klein NOrth called me and told me that I still owed him payment for him listening to a noise one time....the payment being a kiss! Ladies, beware! and men too if you don't know much about cars. And his wife works in my district.
