SCAM! Do not sign up here! , 10/18/2011

I signed up for a month to month boxing class for my boys. They went for less than 1 month and never came back, but LA Boxing continued to charge my debit card for 6 months without my authorization.... When I found out and called them about it, they said they told me when I signed up that I was signing up for automatic withdrawal. That is untrue. I was NOT told that. I had NO idea they would be automatically charging me each month for a service I didn't use! They also told me on the call that I was originally told that I needed to come in and physically fill out a form 30 days in advance of cancellation. Again, this was NEVER told to me when I paid originally. I also never received an invoice for each charge, so I had no indication it was happening. They need to be CLEAR if they plan to charge a card each month and that if you want that to stop that you need to physically go into the facility and fill out a cancellation form. Because I was never told this when signing up for the first month, I had NO idea I was going to be charged each month. If I had received an invoice for each charge, I would have seen what was happening and taken care of it much earlier. Now, I'm just out $500! I was told by both the manager and the regional manager that I should have known I would be charged each month. That's just how a month to month class works! Really? From my experience, that's not a true statement. I was also told that they have NO WAY to know if someone has only come once or twice and yet they continue to charge them for 6 months. 'There are just too many people as members.' Again, really? Perhaps this is a customer service issue they might want to look at fixing. Terrible customer service... terrible policies.
