The location is perfect but the gym and equipment have gone down hill in recent years. Machines are always broke and it just feels unclean. LA Fitness needs to invest in new equipment, carpet, etc. I usually make the drive to the other Sandy Springs location now which is nice.

I workout very early (5:00 am) at LA Fitness and it's rare that the club ever opens at that time. This is frustrating especially since I'm under a time crunch for work. Also, the club is filthy first thing in the morning. There are paper towels still lingering from the previous day, water bottle tops and other trash that was not vacuumed or picked up by members. It's gross.

I've been a member of LA Fitness for a few years now and the quality has gone downhill. It is overcrowded, the equipment is rusty and usually you have to search out the freeweights, and are lucky to find the weight you want. The bathrooms are gross. It is frustrating to have to wait for a treadmill. The only reason I stay is that there is very little competition in the area for a gym with child care for my two kids. And their men's locker room has caught fire twice in the past few months. Also they do charge $15 for member to bring a guest, which is ridiculous.

This gym is great for people who want to workout. It has everything that you need - weights, machines, classes, trainers, etc. It is inexpensive. Don't listen to the bad reviews. If you a socially adjusted person with reasonable expectations that want to join a gym, this is a good place.

The club is OK; you know what you're getting into with a busy club. A typical experience, or rather experiences, today exemplify why I dislike it sometimes. I start using a machine and some queen comes over and says he has one more set AFTER I adjust the machine and begin the first rep. He wanted me to get off the machine as if he had the divine right to it like a little old lady working 15 slot machines at a casino. Then some other queen had a pulldown piece of equipment at his feet and wouldn't give it up because he was switching it out between sets. I said I'd use it when he was using the other equipment but he said no he was going to use it and I'd have to wait until he finished 3 more sets using the 2 different pieces. Ever hear of sharing? I guess not. Otherwise the club is OK, except for other members stealing the new basketballs and there are cruddy balls to shoot around with. Staff is friendly but too many selfish members, not to mention the sitters who spend 30 minutes on one machine and prevent most others from using it.

The place has sufficient equipment and seems to offer many classes, but you cannot count on the advertised opening time of 5 AM on weekdays and 8 AM on weekends. I've been a member for several months and they opened late on several occasions... a bit inconvenient if you're tyring to get a workout in before work.

OK - I go here because it's the closest to work but the bathroom situation is getting out of control. There are literally NO ceiling tiles in the women's locker room anymore, there are leaks everywhere and god forbid any body part touches any surface area because you will surely die of some toxic skin disease. Not to mention that sauna hasn't worked in weeks. The question is - who is managing this place and why is this centrally located LA Fitness is such shambles? Someone from corporate should be forced to bath in the facilities.

After I told the salesman I wanted a couple of days to consider whether I wanted to join, he pulled out a stack of gift certificates to his uncle's Doc Greens restaurant, and told me that they were mine if I joined. Bribing customers to enter into an obligation? Later I decided there wasn't too much else in the area, so I joined up. If you go in any day of the week from 5 until 8:30 PM you will be waiting to use every piece of equipment in the gym. Also, the locker rooms are filthy. All that aside, a friend of mine decided that he wanted to join, but told them that he would only do so if they agreed to waive the application fee and charge him only $25/month. After a little back-and-forth, they agreed. This made me a little angry, so I went back to them, told them the story and that I wanted the same rate. They claimed that he didn't possibly get that rate, so I asked them to pull up his profile, and sure enough they ate their words. In spite of this, they refused any discounts and told me I was stuck. The final straw came when I wanted to bring a friend in for one workout, and they wanted $15. I demanded he be allowed in. They refused, so I told them I wanted out of my membership then and there. Shockingly, they said he could come in after all. Too late. However, they make quitting as laborious a process as possible. You have to fill out a form and MAIL IT IN! I fixed that by telling my credit card company that they were not authorized to charge anymore. Problem solved.

When I was going there, the bathrooms were always dirty and the temperature to the hot tub was always too hot to be able to get in. Other than that, work out equipment was fine. Luckily, when the Lawrenceville gym opened up in 2004 I quickly re-located.

Great location, but I agree with the other reviewer who've said it's crowded. Older club, so facilities are NOT new...the bathrooms always look dirty especially the floors (don't go barefoot!), and the grout on the shower floors are peeling up. However, exercise equipment appear well kept-up and cleaned frequently.

I have been going to this gym for over 2 years now. I like the classes and the location, I go after work instead of sitting in traffic. I must say that it's way crowded and the bathrooms are gross. I wish they'd open up a few more around here to lighten the crowd and/or stop allowing so many members to join, I guess it's all about the money though?
