Run from this store and its manager, 10/30/2013

I put in a five figure order with this store because I loved the comfort of its furniture and also worked with a wonderful designer. Then the nightmare began. I was told 30 to 60 days for delivery.... Well it has been over 70. Delivery was finally scheduled and I am told I need to pay the final balance (downpayment was huge) prior to delivery. Fine -- I paid two days prior to delivery and received a call the day before that they had a schedule snafu and can't deliver. I say that is unacceptable. I get a call back from the manager that I had not paid off the balance "in time" (even though there was no deadline given me beyond prior to delivery) and he had tried "everything" but couldn't deliver as promised. I had an emotional response and raised my voice somewhat saying I had to have it delivered, had turned down work (self-employed) but certainly wasn't swearing or threatening or inappropriate and he just slapped me down -- "Don't raise your voice with me!" If you are going to be customer facing you had better be able to take a lot more heat than I was bringing regarding multiple failed promises. Since I don't have the furniture yet I can only hope it is in better shape than described in reviews. I reached out to corporate only to be told it is indepedently owned. I talked to the district manager and got lip service about valuing my business but no action. Don't be sucked into doing business with this store!!!!! It's like they are doing you a favor getting you the furniture.

SHOP ELSEWHERE, 10/04/2012

First, you have to wait a lifetime to get your furniture. I was told that our furniture would be delivered in 4 to 6 weeks. It has been over 6 weeks and we don't even have an update from the store.... Second, I called the store to get an update and our sales rep went from being a nice person to a monster. Oh the attitude and demeanor. It's almost like they're doing us a favor. She has no update. She mentioned that she called the customer service for an update and hasn't heard anything from them and once they have an update, they will let me know. My response to that was - "DO I HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER 4 to 6 WEEKS FOR A STATUS UPDATE?!?!?" SHOP ELSEWHERE. SAVE YOURSELF THE GRIEF.

Shoddy Furniture

I bought a sleeper sofa and two overstuffed chairs from La-Z-Boy. This was my first real purchase of a nice couch and chairs. I wanted to have these for a long time, and so stupidly I bought the extended warranty. About a year after I bought the furniture(which was fairly expensive, in my opinion), I noticed that the seams on the cushions on the sofa were splitting. One of the two back cushions and one of the seat cushions had split. I called La-Z-Boy to exercise the warranty, and was told to bring in the covers. Upon bringing them in, I was told it was something not covered by the warranty, and they couldn't help me, unless I wanted to buy new covers for the cushions. I looked closely at the seams, and they had been sewn badly, so that the fabric actually wasn't included in the seams. I thought that La-Z-Boy had quality furniture, and expected them to stand behind it, especially at the price I paid. Not to mention the silly warranty I bought. I will never buy another piece of furniture from them again.
