most knowledgable doulas around, 4/06/2009

I took classes through Labor of Love (several actually) and used one of their doulas with the birth of my first child. I will be using a doula through L.O.L. again with the births of all my future... children. I cant imgaine not! From the thorough classes that truely educate, prepare you emotionally, encourage you to trust your body to the awesome help and support of our doula, i cant give enough praise for L.O.L. Childbirth Services. I learned more from them than any book I read and I read A LOT!

Rigid and not very flexible, 1/14/2009

We wanted to have a doula present for a VBAC, however we wanted to have the option to have an epidoural for our birth. Theresa was pretty condescending and I felt like she really didn't have my best... interests at heart. It almost seems like it's their way or the highway. I thought a doula was supposed to support you no matter what. We found another local doula and got great, understanding service from them. It's always left a sour note in my mouth. If you want to have a birth "their way" I'm sure they would be great, otherwise..... well buyer beware.

Almost painless

I had such a wonderful birth experience and largely have Alicia to thank for it. Her compassionate care helped me make it through a very long labor. Her knowledge and support kept me at ease and really allowed for my husband to be there as the emotional support that I needed. Kyle and I will definitely use her again for future births.

Awareness

My husband and I attended the Birthing in Awareness class with Teresa. Our doula recommended this class and it blew all the pregnancy books out of the water. We learned so much we didn't realize we needed to know. My husband was a little skeptical about natural childbirth, but after the class we both knew it was what we wanted. Teresa made us at ease with the idea and completely prepared us for what to expect. We ended up switching doctors so we could have a water birth at North Fulton with a midwife. I am so grateful we made this decision because my baby ended up having trouble coming into the world because she was sunny side up. If we gave birth with our original doctor, I know we would have ended up having a cesarean birth. Instead we ended up having a healthy baby girl under water and completely drug-free. All thanks to the wonderful people at Labor of Love and Kay and Margaret. After the birth, my husband and I joked about how over prepared we were at the hospital (with the ipod, rice sock, birth ball, photos, etc). Although it was nice to know we had those items, we didn't use them. The knowledge and support from my husband, doula, and midwife were all we needed.

An essential piece of the birth puzzle!

Teresa taught our Birthing in Awareness classes, which DEFINITELY prepared us for TWO successful home births! She reminded us that we have everything that we need to give birth and truly empowered us to "let my body give birth!" Anyone I know that's expecting, I suggest they take these classes...as expecting parents, it's one of the best investments you'll ever make!

A must for childbirth!

I used Teresa from "A Labor of Love" for the birth of my son and I literally couldn't have done this awesome waterbirth without her!!! She is a very loving, compassionate, powerful and inspiring woman who knows how to make labor and delivery a very memorable (and actually pleasant) experience. If I were having another child, I wouldn't choose to do it without her there.

A Real Lifesaver

I hired a postpartum doula from Labor of Love several years ago after the birth of my fourth child. She was a real life saver! She kept the house running, cooked hot meals and entertained, cared for my toddler so that I was actually able to sleep when the baby was sleeping and just focus on being a new mom. It made a *huge* difference!

Can't Say Enough Good Things

I used Labor of Love for my childbirth classes as well as my doula service for all three of my births. The classes really helped both my husband and I prepare for the unknown and my doula enabled me to have the births I wanted and my husband be the support I needed. She gently guided us through what could've been a medical process and ensured we had a meaningful experience.
