For all the whiners out there..grow up! The staff are as courteous as they are going to get. Deal with it....what; you expected Unicorns and Butterflies from folks that deal with emergencies and strange and wondrous critters all day? And probably don't make a fortune doing it? They are there because they LIKE animals! Didn't say they had to like people too [grin].They can call me names if they want..I want the best possible care for my dogs when I bring them in...and so far, after years of dealing with Lake City and Acworth Animal Hospitals, [related], that is what I am getting. They just recently saved my dogs LIFE! What the heck do I care if I don't get a sunny smile when I arrive or a "have a nice day" when I leave? Did you bring your animal in there because the staff makes YOU feel good? No, you bring your critter to the vet to get the best possible care with folks that seem to care about the animals. I have no problem with their attitude or the quality of care.Certainly, the staff does a very adequate job in my opinion. The veterinarians are some of the best I have encountered in my 40 years of owning dogs. They CARE! They actually seem to ENJOY their job and maybe they don't have time to act like a doctor on TV..But they do what they are supposed to do...treat animals. So , quite being so sensitive. The most important item when you walk in is the animal on the leash, or in the crate. You are secondary.....Happy animals are what I see in there and the place is clean.

I have been there twice, with 2 different dogs. The front staff is rude, no greeting, VERY slow to check out. Dr came in and didnt introduce herself. I had a dog in for dental. When I called for an update in the afternoon I was told everyone was too busy to talk to me and someone would call later. Never did see a DR either before or after the dental. Was not given any pain meds to take home for my dog, many extractions. They did call the next day to see how the dog was doing. Their price was very reasonable for the dental and bloodwork. Be prepared to be ignored and wait a long time. When we arrived there were very few cars in the lot and no one else in the waiting room. We were on time for the appt and still had to wait 20 minutes to get in a room and then a long wait with no explaination from the DR (this was for the second dog, not the dental).

I have been taking my animal there for a few years and today will be my last visit. First of all when I signed in my new dog they asked me to fill out some info which is fine. My dog weighs 100lbs and is hard for me to write wile holding his leash. The girl at the counter suggested putting him in the car wile I filled the info out I was not fond of that idea. I then waited over a hour to see the vet and even she was not to nice. I did not get to speak with her after they took my dog back for vax and I had some questions. Last year when they saw my cat who is not a nice kitty but I love him all them same the vet had the nerve to say to me if that was his cat he would have taken it to the pound. I am glad the cat lives with me and not him.Overall I was not happy with the service provided today and will not be returning even through their prices are low.

Dr. Toby and staff are the absolute BEST! They were so kind to me when I had to put a sick old pet to sleep. Then, after an unfortunate accident to another pet, Dr. Carmichael did a FANTASTIC job with a surgical repair to my dog's leg. She had multiple fractures and was not a good patient during her recovery period. She actually re-broke the leg 2 weeks into her recovery, requiring more surgery. However, her leg healed so well that she does not have any indication she ever broke her leg! I can wholeheartedly recommend Lake City Animal Hospital, Dr. Carmichael and the staff to anyone in reasonable driving distance.

Took my dogs to have them boarded for a few days and when I came back, one of my dogs left the hospital with bloat - he almost died. Would not recommend this animal hospital since the staff is very rude and they do not care. Need to check animal hospitals out before taking your dogs to have them boarded.

We have two Boston Terriers. We just adopted the second one about 6 weeks ago from an Atlanta rescue group. The group has a designated vet in Decatur that we used to have our rescued puppy neutered. We took him there for his surgery this week and it was a terrible experience. After the excruciating drive down there and back from Acworth, we found the staff to be rude, unorganized and non-communicative. We were sent home with really no instruction on how to care for him post-op. I went to Lake City the next day to ask about post-op care. The vets from Lake City called twice to check on him even though they really haven't treated our puppy yet, as he hasn't been with our family long. They cared about him even though they did not even perform the surgery!! I have been very impressed with the level of service that they always provide. (And there services are much cheaper than other vets.) Thanks for caring, Lake City!

Dr. Carmichael is one of the best vets we've had over the years..he is a very caring and kind-hearted and it shows in his work. The only downside is that everytime we go there the office is overflowing with people and pets...a sign that he's doing a good job!

I have called up to this hospital many times b/c it is near my home. They have never actually answered any of my questions and have always just told me to come in for a visit. My little dog Harley had a absess over her right eye so I called them up asked what to do. As always, they told me to come in. So I finally asked to speak to a vet and he told me to put a warm cloth over it and see what happens, but come in tomorrow...So I decided to go in and see them and all he did was walk in and with his bare hands started to dig at the absess!! I couldn't beleive he would actually try to rip the skin and pop the absess and not sergically cut it or pin it! It totally grossed me out and he was really hurting my dog right in front of me! I have also had friends tell me some crazy stories. They have also killed my aunts cat because one of their techs put the 15 year old cat in the wrong bath! He put him in a flea bath with all of his fur shaved off for a moisturizing bath for skin problems! They put the cat into shock and basically poisened him. A FAMILY FRIEND with some skin problems was killed due to not reading and paying attention. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT VET!

Every time I have called they have always gone above and beyond for me and my many animals. My German shepherd who was previously mistreated at another Vet now loves going to the Vet thanks to all the wonderful staff members at lake city.

Lake City Animal Hospital gets my "Best All Around" vote. They have a great facility (feels like home) and their staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I know I can trust them with my kitty at any time whether it's a routine check-up or an emergency.

My dog was having problems and the vet said it was probably an illness or a disk problem. He ordered all kinds of very expensive test and gave us two medications for him. We were to wait two weeks and if he wasn't better it was probably not the illness. We did as he asked because we thought we should listen to the doctor. The poor dog continued to suffer so we took him back after only one week. At that point he ordered one more very expensive test which came back negative so he then took an x-ray and said yep, it's a slipped disk. We had to put him to sleep. I just don't understand why he couldn't have just taken the x-ray to begin with. If it wasn't the disk we would have been out $50.00 for the x-ray and not over $400.00 as it turned out to be and the dog wouldn't have been made to suffer longer. I still use this office for my other animals regular checkups because aside from that one misjudgement they've been good and are convenient.

Could not help us with our cat's urinating problem:(! Took cat there several times...no results! Chose a new specialized cat vet....no more urinating every where! Turns out Lakeside didn't read our labs properly!! If you have a cat pick a cat vet...Happy now with new vet and knowledge of cat specific problems!
