I've tried other methods as an adult, and the Graded Reader Method has proven to be the best one. I've learned a tremendous amount in the short period that I've been taking classes. I highly recommend the Graded Reader Method of learning a language. I have been learning Spanish for the last 9 months and this approach has proven to be very successful. The instructor Mr. Rashid... takes the time to understand the level of knowledge of each student and tailors the class accordingly. If you are looking to learn a language, this is the place to go!VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

When I decided to learn a new language, I spent a lot of time researching the different types of classes offered as well as the costs. After much research, I was convinced the Language Institute of Georgia was the way to go. I am already really busy with work, family, and other responsibilities but the Language Institute of Georgia made the process sound fun. Learning through reading made perfect sense. I thought this sounded exciting. If you are like me, it’s a safe bet that much of what you’ve learned throughout your life has come from reading. Instead of being “immersed”, which to me meant that the teacher would be speaking words I couldn’t understand or respond to, I would be taught to read. Reading would expose me to many words, phrases and sentences. I would continue to see the same types of phrases and words over and over again in new sentences and context as I read. Ashan said the goal was to transfer the words I am reading and learning from short-term knowledge into my long-term memory. The more I read, the more convinced I am that this is the way to learn a new language. The Cost of these classes is also much more reasonable compared to other classes offered and Ashan makes learning fun and interesting. You should sign up for a class to see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed

By using the reading method that they teach here, my Spanish has improved substantially. I've been able to not only absorb, but retain more vocabulary and sentence structure than I ever did in my high school and college Spanish classes. Additionally, they've shown me how to further my learning outside of the classroom. One of my teachers was a native Spanish speaker, which gave me even more insight and helped me develop an ear for the language. I would definitely recommend this program.

My fiancee and I took the spanish class a couple of months ago and it has paid off. It is a simple yet proven approach to not only learning vocabulary but understanding the language. I would recommend it to anyone looking to learn a foreign language.

I have been a student at Language Institute of Georgia for 1.5 years. I took German in High School and College and had no background in Spanish. I tried Rossetta Stone and I didn't work for me. There was no motivation for me to sit at the computer after working all day. I then signed up for class at LIofG. Within weeks I found myself reading signs and billboards along the roads. You are not taught to memorize phrases in this class. You are taught to learn the language. As I progress, the language becomes easier to learn. The classes are relatively small and in a comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend the Language Institute of Georgia. Oh- when I first started, this course was also the cheapest in Atlanta.

I decided to learn Spanish for both personal and professional development. After mulling over my decisions of learning methods and schools, I settled on this one. I read the reviews, communicated with the wonderful instructor, Ahsan and signed up. I am now in Week 3 and I am very impressed with the method of instruction. Ahsan is a very patient and kind facilitator. He shares ideas on the best way to assimilate foundational Spanish or any new language in a way that is not widely taught or commercially promoted otherwise. After investing in CDs, and attempting to follow online instruction, I feel that the Language Institute offers coursework that is most relevant to adults and how we think and function day to day on a practical level. I plan to continue on with my instruction at LIG and with Ahsan!

In three months I have gained a good understanding of grammar and my vocabulary is growing with each class. Instruction is well paced and with small class sizes you get plenty of individual attention. Highly recommended.

I'm impressed. Ashan's method really works and I feel that I learned more in 2 months with him that in 1 year with my older teachers. I don't know what you think about it, but when I look for a language school I want to make sure that: - The school it's in a good location - The classes are not to big in order to have fully of attention from the professor. - The price is not exaggerated - The teacher is nice and understanding That's why I'm happy that I finally found this school. It is located right next to Lenox Square (which might also be a problem around 5pm because of the traffic...) and has a free parking always available. The classes are small enough to make sure that I will have the chance to talk and read a lot during the 2/3 hours of lessons. The price of $149 is more than reasonable even for students. Ashan is funny and loves teaching languages. What's more, he is foreign which means that he know that problems you might go through while learning a new language...and can really help you because he has been in the same situation!

I have tried to learn Spanish many times before and was being to think that I just could not do it. Then I tried Ashan with a totally different approach. I have completed two classes and see real progress for the first time. I am now confident that I will be able to read and speak Spanish. I recommend this class highly!

No, not really. Not at all. However, Ahsan is an excellent Spanish teacher. Yes, I said Ahsan. No, he is not a native speaker; rather, Ahsan speaks fluently 5 languages and can actually teach more than one language. He teaches Spanish the way he learned it. If he, as a non native speaker, can become fluent, you can as well. I had some background in high school, but my comprehension has grown immensely under Ahsan's instruction. Don't expect to be able to speak in "10 minutes." That's a farce. Practice makes perfect. The more you read, the more you will retain. This process will enable you to speak fluently once your vocabulary is at the level where your recall is just about immediate. This takes some time of course, but is well worth the effort, if you are serious about learning a new language. I wholeheartedly recommend this school and Ahsan without any reservation.

As a person who has enough experience with language schools, I can say that the way he teaches is easier and more practical. I wasn’t expecting to learn Spanish in a couple of months. It takes time, but it's good to know that I'm not wasting my time.

I am on my third course at LIG and have learned in just a few months more Spanish with LIG method than I did through 3 years of high school Spanish and one semester of college Spanish (taken years ago). The instructor is an outstanding, experienced teacher, who is both patient and dedicated to teaching and helping his students learn the language. The teaching method used at LIG is extremely effective. I would definitely recommend this course and instructor for anyone who is serious about learning Spanish.
