I have to say after pricing three other places before going to Buckhead Auto Center they not only gave me the best quote but the best customer service ever! Hirem was so friendly and Josh is the... hardest worker ever with always a big smile on his face making sure every customer there is happy and content!! From now on that's the only place I'll go for any car service needed. Very impressed with how friendly, professional, nice and efficient Josh is. Ask for Josh when you go. He is the best!VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
By far the most honest and straight forward mechanic in Atlanta. Bad reviews here? Maybe they wanted Larry to fix it for NOTHING. Example I needed a steering rack and the dealership wanted $1800 and... it would be ready in a week. Larry did it for about half that and it was ready in 2 days! I guess if I didn't want to pay Larry $900 for the rack, I'd be bitter too. By far Larry is the most honest AND cheapest I have found...and I have dealt with A LOT of dealers and independent garages in my all my years driving used cars.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

Hands down the worst consumer experience of my life, across all forms of commerce. From the first day I dropped my car off to the 60th day when I picked it up, this group was unprofessional, unresponsive, and unorganized. They told me the job would take 2 weeks and it took 2 months and there were still things left unfinished. I have little patience for ignorant dishonest people, so I paid my tab and left so I did not have to listen to one more garbage filled conversation. Here are a few gems from my experience: 1) They installed the wrong tires on my car, 2) they did not repair the glove box, the spare tire, or the center console as we discussed, 3) they removed seat covers and did not put them back on. Never take your car here, regardless of the price he gives you. He uses inferior parts and labor so he can undercut the competitors who may actually fix your car like they say they will.

The worst company in Georgia! They are nothing but incompetent liars. And the owner Larry is the worst. He is more concerned with talking and joking with people than actually getting any work done and dealing with customers. Not only does it take forever to even get someone to pick up the phone when you call but then all you get is crap. I have been lied to more times than I can count and told I need expensive parts that I dont actually need. Then they FINALLY get the part in and its no good, but no one calls to tell me. This is the worst service and company I have ever dealt with. I will never ever go back and warn anyone who goes to beware and get a second opinion!!!

Note: My experience is from June-July 2011. Bottom line: Larry (the owner) cares about making the customer happy, but it might take a long, frustrating while to do it (3 separate visits). The good: price was among the best I saw after getting multiple quotes, also results came out good (when finally done). I needed body work done (paint scratches and challenging dents near the edge of the rear door). Larry gave the best quote of 4-5 places I went to all over Atlanta. Results were what I expected and as much as 40% less than the highest quote. On average, price was 15% less. My challenge--I travel every week for work from M-Th. I would have to leave my car for the week. Plenty of time to get the work done, right? Wrong. What should have taken one week ended up taking a month and a half and 3 visits because half the work just wasn't done--it could only be done on Tuesdays when "his guy" was there. Price changed between visits and appeared made up on the fly--Glad I got the quote in writing; had to show it to get the quoted price. The staff (nice people) always seemed surprised to see me and had no clue about my car's repair. Things move VERY slowly. One visit I waited for 15-20 minutes before I was helped. Maybe Buckhead Auto is better for routine things like oil changes, I'm not sure. It's hard to write a review like this when you like the staff and owner as people, but I would rather have paid a little more to avoid all the hassle.

I'm always wary of taking my car in for even the most basic of car, like an oil change. And God forbid I have a problem because the mechanic guys always discount you like you're an idiot just because you're a woman. I took my car to Buckhead Auto Center and Larry listened to my description of what was wrong. I also watched him deal with another female customer and he was patient and assuring her as well they'd look at it and take care of it. "Take care of it" can mean big bucks but not here. They fixed the problem and only the problem and it didn't cost an arm and a leg and I felt like I'd been listened to and treated fairly. If you're looking for an honest place to take your car, this is it! I will never go anywhere else.

Being the daughter of a man who was around the automotive industry most of his life, you can imagine how difficult finding a mechanic 1,000 away from home was! Larry Johnson and his crew (especially Felicia) were above and beyond gracious. I have found MY mechanic here in Atlanta and I would recommend everyone else give Buckhead Auto Center the same try I did. Thank you Larry, Felicia and the rest of your family for making me feel right at home...

You are very welcome! Felicia does her best everyday to take care of everybody.
I will only take my Jaguar to Buckead Auto Center....no one else wll touch my vehicle. After referrals from a friend, I was skeptical but brought my Jag in for much needed repairs after going into shock at the quote the dealership gave me (not really....I own a Jag...they are expensive to fix!)....but Larry not only beat the prices, but told me I didn't need two of the services the dealership insisted I couldn't do without. That and he detailed my car without me asking him to. I really feel like I have found "my personal" mechanic and will be telling my family and friends about this place.

We are very competitve on price and quality, even on highline cars!
This weekend was my second visit to Buckhead Auto Center....and I will be back! Larry, the owner has gone above and beyond twice now...once with my brake issue, and Saturday it was a hose/belt problem. Before coming here I had three other shops...all big chain companies...tell me I needed full replacement and upwelling on everything. Larry had to fix THEIR screw-up and didn't charge me for a part. Also....hmmm guys....seems like you are bashing the new guy there, Hiram....Larry's service advisor....give the guy a break, he is learning a new position! I know I am new to the shop, but after seeing this shop on Fox 5 news and CBS news as the honest shop in town....AND experiencing first hand how their customers are treated...I fully intend to not only keep on coming here.....but recommending Buckhead Auto to family and friends. Hang in their Hiram....you will get the hang of it! And pooh to the negative reviewers....didn't you ever have to learn the ropes at a new position?
Thank you for the kind words!
I went there for checkup of my mazda's struts and shockers last week. I called them a day earlier for an appointment -- I was asked to be there at 8:30am (too early for my standards, but I still made it on time). I was made to wait for 2.5 hours without telling me anything. Only after I asked, they told me that the struts need replacement and they are getting an estimate. Getting that estimate took another 30 minutes! It came out to be $650 for only one pair of struts!!! Thank God that I took some idea of the prices before going there and it was above what I expected. So, I decided not to get them replaced there. Still they charged me $75 saying one hour labor change!!!!! (the person was guessing how much he should change me). 1 hour labor for CHECKING the struts after making me wait for 3 hours!!! When I told them that $650 is just too much, the person was still making stories ... "it takes 2.5 hours for EACH strut" .. blah blah blah. Anyways, I came out of there after wasting my 3.5 hours and $75 .. and went straight to Kauffman Tires. They changed the pair of struts in $410 in 2 hours.. they were very competent and very clear about their prices -- the guy gave me an estimate in 2 minutes! I am surely NEVER going back to Buckhead Auto Center and would recommend all of my friends against it in a heartbeat!
2 sides to almost everything. The original issue was squeaking over bumps. We spent time to diagnose the problem, lubricating and tightening all the rear components to quiet it down. The rear struts with the mount and bearing is what we priced to be replaced. If the only thing that was wanted was struts we could have been 375.00, the extra cost was for the mount and bearing on each side. We spent close to 3 hours after driving and etc and only charged 75.00, that is 25.00 an hour and that is very reasonable.
I needed an alignment, and a friend recommended Buckhead Auto and a coupon for a balance and alignment. Reading the glowing reviews on Kudzu, I figured I couldn't go wrong. Maybe I expected too much, but I was not impressed. Initially they said the alignment would take ~2 hours, so I showed up promptly at 8, expecting to leave around 10. Four hours later, after numerous assurances that it would be “soon”, they finished (they said one wheel wasn’t balancing easily). But, before leaving, they recommended replacing both front and rear struts. They’re probably right about the fronts, but they recommended based on mileage and didn’t say anything about how they looked. They said the same thing about the rear struts… which had been replaced *two weeks* prior to this visit. When I said the rear ones were new, I was told there was something wrong with the way the back wheels were riding, and that I needed some sort of spacer in the back. Anyway, 1500 miles later, my struts are still fine, which, granted, may not mean much. But, my last complaint is that they rotated my tires, which had already been rotated a week prior, after I *explicitly* told them not to (unfortunately I didn’t realize this until I pulled into my house). So, in short, they communicated poorly and didn’t listen well, and secondly, I’m not sure I trust them after they tried to sell me $800 worth of repairs that I clearly didn’t need.
This is not the way this should have been, so let me publicly I(Larry) apologize for it taking too long, and not being prompt like we try to be. As for rotating the tires that is also our mistake. So please accept the apology. As for looking at struts, and suspension I will be happy to go over what we see and what we reccomend. For your time and effort I will clean your car for you for free. Thanks Larry
Recently, I had brake service and oild change which I paid over 1200.00 for. Shortly after arriving back home my entire car port was covered in oil spots. Took the car back and "Larry, the know it all mechanic" tells me NOTHING IS WRONG with the OIL and send me on my way. Turn out car has a blown gasket which the experience mechanic did not detect. I REALLY BELIEVE THIS GUY USES OLD PARTS and INDUCES MORE CARE REPAIRS. BE AWARE

Wow.....open forums are great, and bad. Anyone can say anything with no consequence or responsibilty. I have no idea who this is or what the deal is. This is the first time I have been called a "know it all mechanic", somehow it doesnt seem very flattering. I like to think I know a fair amount about cars and fixing them, but have never professed to know it all. I suppose this person believes in the tooth fairy if they really believe that I use "used parts" or that I "induce more CARE repairs"(nice spelling). I hope who ever this is has a nice day, and I feel sorry for whom ever is taking care of their vehicle.
