Long time customer
Have been coming here since Dr. Lawrence owned the practice in the 1980's. Dr. Weir has taken care of my all my pets. He is kind and gentle and knows them well. Bldg is a little shabby, but the care is not.

Bad Grooming
I don't know what their vet service is like so I can't judge that, but their grooming is very poor and their groomer is very rude. My dog's hair cut looked uneven afterwords and even worse she was so timid and scared after staying there. I tried to get there at 8am because its first come first serve but I still couldn't pick her up until after 5 and when I did she had a bad hair cut and was terrified!! I have been to other vets and she has never came out in this emotional condition so I am definitely going to drive the hour and a half back to where I used to live just to make sure this never happens again!!!

Excellent, caring service
My shih tzu has seen three different vets (because we've lived in 3 different parts of town). Each of them has been good, but LAH far exceeded my expectations and surpassed the others by leaps. When I first brought my baby there, she was lethargic, couldn't stand, didn't respond to her name, and had mucus in her eyes. I was a basket case, but they were so caring and gentle (with me and my dog) that I immediately felt better. It turns out, she was severely dehydrated and had a bacterial infection that ate away at her entire anal area. She required surgery, and they told me that she wouldn't ever be "normal" again.

The doctor told me my options (including the cost of surgery, length of hospitalization, after care) and suggested that I may want to consider putting her to sleep. He estimated that it would cost nearly $3000 to operate, and that it was likely that afterward, she still wouldn’t be able to hold her bowels. I opted to do surgery, and with his and the staff’s help, she made a full recovery. After surgery, they could’ve milked me for the anticipated month-long hospital stay, but after a week or so, they encouraged me to continue her care at home which was a lot cheaper. I was nervous, but they assured me that I could do it, showed me how, and offered plenty of support. Oh, and the total was about $2500 and they let me pay in installments.

Consistency is Key
This is the ONLY vet I have used for my adopted dog and rescued cat. Yes it costs more at Lawrence Animal Hospital than at (shudder) Banfield etc however the peace of mind I have knowing that Dr. Weir is experienced, professional, competent, and that my "kids" are safe in his care is priceless. The only complaints I have are that Dr. Weir could be more nutrition-minded when treating his patients. He was medicating my dog for things that cleared up within weeks of changing her dog food to grainless (at the suggestion of a minimum-wage-paid pet store employee, no less.) Additionally Dr. Weir isn't exactly a "warm fuzzy" in terms of personality. I don't take it personally but it seems like something that could limit that essential client-doctor relationship.I guess some are turned off by the kinda creepy-looking building, but don't judge that book by its cover :)

My "Duke" loves to visit when I'm out of town.
I have no complaints whatsoever. My dog runs to the door every time I have to drop him off due to work related travel. Dogs are smart and if he was being mistreated his behavior would tell me so. They've always provide great medical care and they are the most reasonably priced.
