Amazing bakery! If you're looking to find some really good cookies in the city, come here. Try their chocolate chip walnut cookies, they are great. Taste delicious.

Astronomical Shipping Charges

I love Levain Bakery. I thought some Levain cookies would be the perfect b-day present for our son at college. As we no longer live in NYC, I checked on line. Eight cookies for $44.00 -- $66.00 if you want a custom mix -- and shipping for $45.00??? A grand total of $90.00 for 8 cookies. A little outrageous, I think. Even UPS puts a disclaimer on the site saying the rate includes an additional charge by the company. Sorry, Levain, my son will be just as happy with other cookies.

Levain Bakery

COOKIE COOKIE COOKIE is what you will be saying once eating one of Levain Bakery's famous treat.\rThis is literally where the cookie monster lives an eats. This bakery has a pretty big cookie and it will leave you satisfied.\rResiding in the Upper West Side Levain Bakery is an upscale cafe with little to no decor creating a very modern and upscale look.\rThis is a true bakery where the most important thing is the food. With a view from the open kitchen, passerby's can see that freshness is a top priority.\rLevain Bakery is an amazing bakery that plays on the cliche ""ingredients first.""

Good cookies

My sister is an absolutely cookie fanatic, so when I heard about this bakery, I had to try it out (even though it was all the way on the west side, and i lived in the east village). I was not disappointed. The cookies are opposite of Jacque Torres - which is a couple blocks away and also noted as top cookies: where JT is big and flat (think Zaro's), Levain's is fatter like a scone. I've had the chocolate chip cookie with walnuts and the double chocolate with peanut butter; both are really good, but it's hard to eat a whole cookie in one setting because it's so heavy. I would not be surprised if each cookie had literally 1000 calories. I gave it a 4/5 because of the heaviness factor (the cookie sheet and paper bag get soaked from the grease almost immediately).

The Best Cookie in New York

Do you remember the first time you kissed someone? and do you remember the first time you saw Starlight Express? Multiply those things together, square it and you get how good a cookie from Levain tastes. At first, I was hesitant to spend the + $3 on one cookie. I mean, how much better can this cookie really taste? Tate's is all I need. However, I took one bite and had to take a second to realize how perfect, and how much better this cookie is then anything I have had in the past.

Heaven on Earth in the form of a Divine Cookie!

We watched the Bobby Flay Throwdown featuring Levain's Famous Cookies. Just watching them on the TV made our mouth's water. We had to go find this place and try them for ourselves. It's a little hole in the wall place, but that's where the best stuff is usually hiding! OMG!!! These cookies are absolutley the most amazing things I have ever truly tasted in my entire life. I am someone who eats healthy, but loves to splurge on the weekends and indulge...I workout hard and deserve it....this cookie is Soooooo worth every savory morsel! \rTheir chocolate chip walnut is my favorite!!!! \rThe chocolate peanut butter chip is a close 2nd, its amazing.\rThe dark chocolate chocolate chip is so decadent....\rI only regret not trying the oatmeal raisin.\rThese cookies are massivley huge and heavy...but they are the best cookies I have ever tasted in my life!

Way too sweet!

I really, really want to love a bakery with such a great name as Levain, truly dedicated owners and an address around the corner from my apartment. However, their famous chocolate chip cookies are way, way, way too sweet. Everything ele about them is great--they are chock full of walnuts and other goodies, browned to perfection--but the cloying sweetness is impossible to overlook. I've given these treats several tries, hoping to get past this. Sadly, I have come to conclude this is not the place for anyone who favors pastries that go light on the sugar.

The BEST bakery on the UWS

You MUST visit Levain if you are on the UWS. Fantastic Breads (my favorite is the Whole Wheat Walnut Raisin), unbelievable cookies (I won't wax poetic as I know everyone else already has), and my absolute favorite: Oatmeal Raisin Scones. Simple, yet perfect.
