Now that Liberty Disposal has been "merged" with Amerian Disposal as of August 2010, I can't sing praises. In fact, I have had invoicing issues with American ever since they took over. Like another poster, I didn't know about the merger beforehand and my credit card payment was rejected. They add fees without explanation or justification. I was charged a fee because Amerian failed to cancel my service, even though they picked up my trash bin before the next service period and are charging me for the cancelled service period. You can NEVER get the fees removed because they will invoice you for ADDITIONAL unexplained fees months later. Then, they add fees on top of the unwarranted fees. I also got the threatening collections email. I faxed all my communications to them, so I have a log. They have an F rating by BBB. I am ready to be another complaint to BBB. I will advise my HOA to ban them from consideration as a preferred vendor. If this persists, I will go to small claims court.

Liberty Disposal merged with American Disposal...and that is when the problems began. After being charged at the wrong time, then having them credit it back- I then get an ugly letter saying they are going to turn me over to a credit agency if I don't pay in 5 days. Guess what- my auto-pay was on Amex, but they don't take Amex now...but there was no call or letter to let me know that. There are so many options for trash pickup, I do not need the constant billing hassle. I am taking my business elsewhere.

In short: 1) This company puts recycling in the garbage. We saw them do it multiple times. We followed the same truck to the next neighborhood where they then picked up the regular trash. Basically, they alternate picking up trash in one neighborhood with recycling in the next, mixing garbage with recycling, which can only mean one thing -- they don't recycle! 2) They claim to be a local business, but that's not true. Liberty is from NJ and they've recently been bought out by American Waste from Virgina. 3) We signed up because it was cheap, at first at least. The price goes up every year though. 4) When I called to cancel the service I was charged with a cancellation fee of $25. On their website and fliers they advertise "no hidden fees". Um, that's a hidden fee alright. We've since switched back to Trashbusters. It's a little more, but they pick up your trash twice a week and they actually recycle, which is nice. And if you ever have extra junk, they'll take it all without any questions. Wish we had never went with Liberty, it wasn't very liberating, ha!

I was a loyal customer for years (the owner knocked on my door back when they were a startup), but was tired of rate increases (from $45 to $59!) and disorganization. When North Metro offered me free *weekly* roll-cart recyling (something Libery doesn't offer) and a $36 pricetag, guaranteed, I switched. When I called to cancel, Liberty was incredibly rude, billed my credit card $30 for cleaning/picking up my unusable can, and refused to give me the name of someone else I could talk to about it. 20 days and $30 later, NO ONE has come to pickup the can. This company is not what it used to be. The trucks don't even say Liberty anymore. It's sad to see that happen to what was once a great local business, but STAY AWAY. Update: Filed complaint with Better Business Bureau, and Liberty never responded to either of us. Indicative of their service level.

I have been with Liberty for 3 years now and NEVER HAPPIER. I got a knock on my door from one of these crazy door sales people from CYCLE WORKS so I told them no thanks but I need a lower rate. I checked out their reviews then called Liberty and they matched the rate. I have never had to call once except this time. GREAT SERVICE.

No customer service. I guess if you do not have a problem, everything is fine but if you ever need to complain about a pick up or else, nobody is there. They can only find your address to send you bills. Sad!

My neighbor is 64 and in ill health. She has been with Liberty for many years and has been happy with their service, although they charged her $51 per quarter, which was always paid on time or even early. When my service provider offered her a much better rate, she called Liberty and asked if they had a senior discount. They said NO. So she cancelled her service to take advantage of the lower rate. Upon arriving home from a stay in the hospital, she found a bill for $30 to pick up and clean her can. No one I've talked to has ever been charged such a fee. Her can is cleaner than a lot of people's houses and smells better too. I would never consider doing business with these people and will share this story as often as I can.

I have been through a few garbage companies for some reason we have a problem getting picked up. This problem has followed us through 3 different companies. I switched to Liberty 6 months ago and I can honestly say I have not had to call them one time. My truck never misses my stop ever!!! Thank GOD

I've been with Liberty for over 2 years. I am in the process of cleaning out a home of an obsessive compulsive hoarder. I can't begin to express my gratitude for the weeks they take all the 'extra' stuff that makes it to the curb! I have been so impressed with their service and friendly, prompt customer phone support that I switched to an annual rate (and got a month free!) Sweet!

It's refreshing to find a garbage company with a heart. There customer service is the best, always friendly and responsive. The prices are the best for the service you receive. I have had cheaper but that's what I got cheaper service. I have not been missed since starting service with Liberty. Great job guys.... Happy Customer

BEWARE: I will no longer do bussiness with Liberty!! They have NO customer service, they could care less about their customers. If I had read others reviews on Kudzu I would have never signed up.

I have toyed with switching to Cycle Works because I received a mailer offering garbage pickup at a lower price than Liberty. But after reading all of the negative reviews about Cycle Works and being very satisfied with Liberty, I have decided to stay with Liberty since they have been very reliable at a price much lower than my previous provider (Waste Mgmt).

If you cancel your service with them, be careful! They will take your entire quarter payment and charge you bogus fees that they claim are "cleaning fees" meanwhile, they don't even bother to send ANY of your money back nor do they bother to come pick up the can! Horrible customer service! Just like Waste Management, they continued to hike up their prices every year until it got to be over $50, then I found out others in my same neighborhood were paying less?! I switched to Cycle Works and they pick up more odd-shaped items that don't fit in the can and are cheaper-win win! Don't get fooled by this company!
