I truly believe he is in it for the money. First there was a slight mix up with my ins where they (the Ins Co) cancelled it when they should not have and of course my son got sick at that time. I called LHP to make an appt I and I was able to get in the next day which was great but they later called me to tell me my ins was not active, I called and sure enough it was an Ins Company mistake, the Ins called them and told LHP that it would take 5 to 7 business days to have it corrected, now I was being seen the following day, LHP told me that they would be able to see my son but on a cash patient since his ins was showing inactive, even tho the ins called & assured them that in fact my son was covered. I agreed my son needed to be seen, they told me that once the ins came back active that they would run it through the ins for the service date and that once ins has paid they would refund my cash price. I ended up taking him to LHP & then CHOA urgent care 3 days after LHP b/c he was still sick & they told me the same thing money wise, and properly treated him. 3 months later after I received my refund check from CHOA, & called LHP where they told me that it was their policy to not refund me since the ins was not active that day &they would not refund me the money. I have not been back since & have since changed ins now they want to charge me to transfer my records from one Dr to another. I work in medical field and this is UNHEARD OF FOR RECORDS FROM DR TO DR.

We transferred to Dr. Lorenz this past year and I wish I did it much sooner. He is a wonderful physician. Very sweet to my tween and thorough with me. His staff is SO kind and helpful. The office itself it clean, new, organized, parking is never an issue AND there's a playground across the lot! Perfect for immunization days. You won't be disappointed.

I've been taking my 2 boys for years to see Dr. Lorenz. We have moved from Canton to Marietta over 2 years ago but I continue to make the drive up to Woodstock/Canton to bring my kids to Little Hickory Pediatrics. Dr. Lorenz and his nurse are very caring people who take the time to examine my kids and explain things clearly. There is never any feeling of being rushed. It is very personal. We like that!

We just got back from our first appointment with Dr. Lorenz. He was very thorough, allowed for lots of time for questions/answers, and suggested things to watch for and try with our 15-month-old son. The nurses were equally great. They were friendly and fast without the rushed feeling. In fact, when it came time for his immunizations, two nurses each did one shot at the same time to reduce the time spent holding our son still (which he hates). I thought that was GREAT! Equally great was the overall cleanliness of the place. Having come from North Cobb Pediatrics, I was really impressed. I didn't feel like we needed to go home and take germ-x baths afterward! The only thing I didn't like is that there is no separate sick and well waiting area. However, a new building is slotted to be completed in late summer which will have the separate rooms so I can live with this. All in all, this is the first time I've ever left a doctor's office with not only a good impression of the building and staff but have actually felt comfortable in stating that this is "our doctor." Now if it just stays that way. =)

We switched to Dr. Lorenz about a yr ago and absolutely love him and the whole office staff. He spends as much time as needed and never rushes you. Also, they don't overbook appts so you hardly ever wait - and you don't have to wait around snotty sick kids b/c they don't overbook appts. He answers all after hrs calls - he is a real doctor - and we love this office!!

I'm a crank, but cannot ignore the ignorant rantings of a dubious posting of Concerned and LoveMyKids, on the same day, same score but both with a different name? This Lorenz fellow is a fine doctor, and nobody deserves the nonsense that kind of Rantings. Kudzu Please. The so called Concerned and Lover are not likely from around these parts, where our mothers taught us better. Not too brave to rant away in such an ignorant tone, and anon. too, and then act like you are two people. Ethical? As Gomer Pyle would say, "Shame, Shame, Shame!" Lorenz deserves better so he gets the best end of the deal - you are gone on to haunt another poor doctor. Whoever you are you should come with the Surgeon's General's warning "Smoking and Bad for your Health."

I recommend Dr. Lorenz to all of my friends! Dr. Lorenz has been our pediatrician for almost three years, (since we relocated from Colorado) and we LOVE him! I have five children, ages 16 to 2 and Dr. Lorenz has always been caring and compassionate with each and every one of them. Anytime you call after hours you do not get a recording, you get Dr. Lorenz and he calls to follow up after emergencies! I have never had a problem in speaking with Dr. Lorenz during or after business hours and his staffs are the sweetest girls. They know all of my children by name and have always been polite, kindhearted, and very knowledgeable. Dr. Lorenz is very informative and listens to all of your concerns. He even respected my wishes to spread out our baby girl’s immunizations because of my personal beliefs and concerns. Never once did Dr. Lorenz treat me disrespectfully. He listened and said it was doable but that I would have to pay for the additional office visits. This is what I expected after taking the same action with my other children in Colorado. My children trust him and the staff and that is very important to me. I only want the best care for my kids. It’s not a “big box” doctor’s office; it’s a quaint and personal office that allows Dr. Lorenz and his staff to get to know you and your children.

I have been very happy so far with Little Hickory and Dr. Lorenz. We came to Little Hickory from one of those mega factory offices where we were always rushed in and out as a number. There is a totally different feel at Little Hickory. It's small and cozy. Dr. Lorenz is nice and patient. I've never felt rushed there and he always listens and explains things to you. Our last doctor seemed liked she was running a race and couldn't leave the room fast enough. Little Hickory is the complete opposite. I'd highly recommened Dr. Lorenz.

Wow. I can't believe all the negative reviews. We've been patients for several years, and have never encountered such utter nonsense! We love Dr. Lorenz and his staff, and always get sound, evidence-based advise from both Dr. Lorenz and his nurses. Super office, wonderful doctor, and top notch staff.

I think Dr. Lorenz and his staff are great! He is knowledgeable, caring, and he really listens to my concerns. His staff is friendly, courteous, and knows us by name. If you call after hours, you get Dr. Lorenz on his cell phone. He has Saturday morning hours during the winter, which is convenient. I disagree with the negative reviews on here. We have had no trouble at all with Dr. Lorenz or his staff. I am glad I found such a great pediatric office for my children!

Parents a WARNING! Do not trust the care of your children to this provider. Staff is very rude and the physcian makes decisions based on his beliefs and concerns without the parents authorization. The ethical practices of the staff and Physcian are in direct violation of Hippa privacy laws. I would love to say more however we are in the process of reporting such acts - and have been instructed not to give direct details. All I can say is -parents PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THE WELL BEING OF YOUR CHILDREN TO THESE PEOPLE!

During this time of flu pandemics and hearing different opinions from one news station to another, the one resource you should be able to trust the most would be your child's pediatrician for reliable information and guidance. This is not the case however at Little Hickory. Quite frankly I wouldn't know what Dr. Lorenze knows because I never got passed his incompitant staff. I was given wrong information and their attitude was one of indifference. As Mothers, we may tend to get "overly" fearful during times like these, but if you work in pediatrics, this comes with the territory. The staff needs to be caring, compassionate, and most importantly EDUCATED.Little Hickory falls short with these basic skills. Actually you can't even rate them one star and Kudzu doesn't provide negative stars.

We moved to the area from out of state 2 years ago and had a medical emergency with our 18 month old the second evening we were here. I was frantic. Not finding anything in the phone book that I knew would be close by, I pulled a list of providers from our ins. hoping to find an urgent care listed in the area. Nothing was listed so I called the first # that popped out at me figuring I get a recording with a phone # to after hours care. But instead I got Dr. Lorenz! He calmed me down & walked me through directions to the closest urgent care. The next day we got in for a f/u appt with him and he has been our kids doctor ever since. Any time our kids get sick they get into see him that day and the nurses are sweet and on it! I called to request my 4yo vac record be sent to her pre-school and 10 minutes later when I was at the school to pick her up they let me know that they had already received it!

My daughter was going here for quite some time. She received her last 2 vaccinations this year at Dr. Lorenz's office. The next day, her leg swelled to the size of a grapefruit around and was raised about an inch 1/2 (if not more). The site was extremely hot to the touch. My first instinct was to call the doctor and get in right away. The receptionist proceeded to tell me that he couldn't see her till 2:30. I was frantic because it was 9:30 in the morning. I couldn't wait. I asked the receptionist if I could just speak to the doctor and her response was "No. He was busy with patients." Then I asked if I could just come in and be seen in the waiting room and the response was "No." Then I asked for a Nurse to call me back and the receptionist said there were no nurses on duty that day. I pleaded with her to let me see the doctor earlier and she refused. So, off to the Emergency Room I went. The ER doctor said it was an allergic reaction to the vaccination and all I had to do was give her Benadryl and Motrin (for the fever). $300 later and I could have had her own doctor tell me this. Finally I get a call from Dr. Lorenz at 7:30 in the evening. I was pretty upset, needless to say. I'm not a dumb Mom. I have a college degree and life experiences that make me a pretty intelligent person, but I'm not a doctor. Seeing the reaction my daughter had to the vaccine was frightening and I was appauled that the only person I was able to speak to was the RECEPTIONIST.

I really liked Dr. Lorenz, he was attentive to my child, but seemed a little annoyed when my 18 month old was really loud and wanted to play. It was annoying, but he should see this every day. He did give me the vaccine lecture, when I decided I didn't want 4 vaccines that day for my son. That was okay though, I expected as much. When I got the bill for this visit, my insurance CO was billed almost $400. I thought that was a little high because I was used to getting billed about $220 from our last ped. He did spend almost 45 minutes with me which I thought was more than thorough. I did leave feeling comfortable with him. His office staff was missing when I was leaving, so I didn't get to make a follow up appointment.
