In 1980, motherdaughter duo Phyllis Heppenstall and Kris Butt began hosting inhome parties featuring lingerie, lotions, gifts and sexual wellness items. ?My foray into this industry began when I read an article about a lady who was doing home parties and I thought it would be enjoyable to do,? says Heppenstall.
Within 14 months, the first three Lovers stores were opened and Peekay was born. ?Our unique shopping experience is targeted at women and couples. Our concept is to put every customer at ease and give them a comfortable, safe place to shop,? says Heppenstall.
In 2006, The Company rebranded its Lovers Package stores as simply Lovers. Over the years, Peekay has expanded into California with the retail brands A Touch of Romance and ConRev. Today Peekay celebrates their 30th anniversary and operates over 30 retail stores, several websites and a wholesale division.
