I've always thought Lowes, carries a better selection than Home Depot. If you're into gardening, they almost always have amazing deals on clearance items in the back of the garden center. Most items only need a little TLC.

While Lowe's usually has good customer service in-store, I recommend you avoid having any flooring installed by them and their subcontractors. We had a tile contractor come out (sent by Lowe's) who measured our kitchen to be more than 100 sq. ft. than it was (which drives up the price significantly). It was also a burden to even get them to call us back with the estimate--we had to keep calling them and then finally..days later, we were sent a quote. A competitor--who correctly measured our square footage--was the contractor we ended up going with thankfully.

In the past, I never thought Lowe's had very experienced sales people on the floor. Every time I have gone in there now, everyone has been very helpful and I haven't had to wait long or look far for someone to assist me. The sales people were also very knowledgeable in their product.
