Poor Service, Mediocre Food
After I recently moved to downtown Atlanta, my research found Lunatique, located in the Wyndham Hotel just 2 blocks away. Reviews were very good for the interesting menu (including tapas), so I was excited to have a convenient, good restaurant nearby.
My first visit in June 2005 was a tremendous disappointment. After the meal, my guest and I could not agree on what was worse, the food or the service. Ultimately, the service topped the list. Although the place is fairly small and was not crowded, we had tremendous difficulty getting any attention from our server.
After we were finally able to order, our food arrived and the best way to describe it is "mediocre." The menu items just did not live up to their exciting, "bold" descriptions. Very disappointed and vowed never to return.
But we did give the place another chance, several months later for lunch on a Sunday. Unfortunately, the level of service this time was (if possible) even worse. Our server was more engrossed in watching television than in waiting on us, and the food was again disappointing. My chicken sandwich was overcooked to the point that a portion was unedible.
On both occasions, we waited an inordinate amount of time to pay the bill. If there had been any sign of a manager, I would have communicated our disappointment.
Summary: Sounds good on paper. Flawed execution on food. Consistently inattentive service.
