Maaco damaged four back up sensors
My SUV was rear-ended by a truck on 9/20/09. The SUV is equipped with four parking sensors on the rear bumper. The sensors worked when Harrold Ford had just serviced my SUV on 9/4/09, they were working immediately prior to the collision. The Maaco estimator, Kenny, gave me an estimate and informed me that since there might be damage that he could not see until the bumper was removed, he would call if the estimate needed to be amended. Kenny did, in fact, call and get my authorization on a few things. After I picked up my SUV on 10/19/09, I noticed that the sensors were not working. I took the car back to Maaco on 10/26/09. Manager Art Alvi told me that all four sensors were "corroded." The rear bumper was new but his technician replaced the bad sensors into the new bumper, even though he knew all four sensors did not work. Alvi pulled a sensor apart to show me the inner wiring. When I told him that the sensors worked before the accident, he said that the sensors had to be replaced anyway, so I might as well have him replace them. Alvi refused to give me the technician's name and told me to report this to the Better Business Bureau. This Maaco is not a BBB member.
