DISHONEST treatment from Macy's/Goodyear Auto Cntr, 2/06/2009

My mother brought her car into the Southlake Macy's Automotive shop in Morrow, GA to have a leaking tire repaired. They told her that her car needed ALL new brakes and had "metal to metal" wear, and... needed immediate repair which would cost $1600.00. She then took the car to another mechanic who was known to be reputable where she discovered that not only was $1600 extremely overpriced, but that the car had NO BRAKE PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. All pads and brake parts were in perfect working order. I suspect the "metal to metal" scare tactic was only to lure my mother into getting the unneeded work done immediately and pay an exorbitant amount for it. PLEASE don't trust these guys without confirming your car's diagnosis with a reputable mechanic! It's sad that so many auto mechanics are this dishonest. Especially one that's operating under the Macy's and Goodyear names.
