Main Street vet participates in the Friends of Animals discount spay/neuter program, so we signed up on the website, got our certificate, and scheduled our appointment. The only additional costs were for blood work and pain medication, which we expected and discussed prior to surgery. I was disappointed; however, to find that Main Street Vets would not put a chip in my dog because it would "alter his electrical field." You see, Main Street Vets specialize in homeopathic pet care. Apparently removing a dog's testicles is OK, but putting a rice-grain-sized chip in their scruff is bad mojo. Oh well, the neuter went great and our buddy is doing just fine. He'll probably go elsewhere for his annual physical though.
