Lack of customer service is a drag, 5/18/2014

It is hard to mess up a shooting range, considering they are what they are... a safe place to shoot a gun. However, the people they let in the shooting range are not safe. The staff does not do any... education, letting any Tom, Dick or Harriet go in and start shooting - pointing loaded weapons at other patrons, loading unsafely or otherwise unsafely handling firearms in a cramped area. I mentioned this to a staff member but apparently safety concerns are not high on the list because nothing was said or done about it. Four visits total, when I entered the store, nobody greeted me or even looked my way. I was left to wander around on my own. When I stepped up to the counter to ask some questions, I was left standing there and nobody acknowledged my presence or said they'd be right with me or anything. Completely horrible customer service. After wandering some more, and seeing prices (a holster, and their S&W handguns) I was disappointed as the selection was low, and the prices were high. I walked towards the exit expecting somebody to speak out and try to stop me but nobody did. I left without having even been spoken to. Experience was the same each visit up to this last time where the store emailed a sale flier and then denied any knowledge of it. Telling me to "call next time and save yourself a trip" rather than being helpful and trying to win me over as a valued customer by showing me other, similar firearms. Awful mgmt practices and awful customer service.

So Glad They Opened in Lilburn, 6/17/2013

I try to come in a few times a week since they've opened. Everyone is very friendly and the range is always clear and not smokey like places I've been in the past. They know me by name now :-)

Customer Education

I did not know anything about guns when I walked in the store, but I had money and knew I wanted to buy a weapon for self-defense. Instead of trying to sell me something, the kind and knowledgeable employee educated me on guns for 15-20 minutes! He did not try to sell me something, but instead gave me important information to consider before I purchase. He was patient and honest. Thanks for helping a novice and not taking advantage of a customer.

Best Range around

Their new location and new staff are amazing, I went there to buy a Glock 17 and they waited on me like i was a king. I was even greeted at the door. I cant wait to shoot and shop here for many years to come. I was so amazed at how many guns they had i had to take a pic.

Choose someone else

If I could give no stars I would. I'm a sick and disabled Iraqi War vet and I was looking for an AK, they told me they try to make the AKs look like a battlefield pickup, so I went on down and bought it plus 1000rnds of ammo. After going over the AK and ammo when I got home, I found out I was bent over the couch and they didn't use any lube. What really gets me going was why they were overcharging me one of them said "thank you for your service". They overcharged me like $100 on the ammo and about $200 on the AK, and of course there is no refund or returns when I went back, I'll never do business with them again. Save your money and go somewhere else, especially if you're a Veteran. Liars and thieves seem to work there. If anybody wants to contact me, here's my email. usmcdog@att.net

My Main Store

Friendly knowledgeable staff, very helpful and decent pricing. You might find an item for one dollar less elsewhere but it is certainly not worth the trade off for good local customer service. I will highly recommend this business.

Watch the FFL fees

I recently purchased a gun from budsgunshop and found Mainstreet Firearms as a preferred FFL dealer. The price on the website showed $25, but after reading another review I decided to ask the shop myself. As the other reviewer found, the fee was now $50 and the reason was simply that I ordered from a wholesaler and he could have sold it to me. He appeared to be upset with this so I asked for him to price me the same pistol, left my contact number, and did not get a response. I chose another FFL dealer to handle my transaction for $30. Two star review as they at least said they would be checking on a price, otherwise one based on the service and attitude.

Better get it in writing...

At the beginning, I found the staff friendly and knowlegable, and they carry a wide selection of guns at reasonable prices. I ended up spending around $3000 with them over the course of a few months, and planned to spend about $2000 more in the near future. Then, I found a good deal on a Makarov online. Over the entire time I'd been dealing with Mainstreet, I let them know that I was looking for a Makarov, and would gladly buy one if they come across any. Repeatedly, I was told that they couldn't get them. So, I resorted to another seller, but needed Mainstreet to receive the pistol and handle the transfer. Before I placed the order, I asked them about the particulars of doing an internet transfer, and I told them where I was buying from. They told me that the fee would be $25, which seemed reasonable. However, when I go to pick up my pistol, I'm told that the transfer fee would be $50! I questioned this, and the clerk said that it's usually $25, but for this particular seller their "bookkeeper" makes them charge $50. So, my hands were tied. Either I pay a double fee in order to get a gun that I'd already paid for, or I trust these people, who had already lied, to me to return the gun to the seller. Even if I could've made other arrangments, I would have had to pay a lot more for the extra shipping than the extra $25. I had no choice but to be the victim of what amounted to legal extortion.

Great Service

I love dealing with these folks! Every one at the store is very friendly, very accommodating...and very knowledgeable about their merchandise. I've been to other shops, but the folks at MainStreet are by far the best I've ever dealt with! Thank you!!
