Training & Boarding
We have had Eric working with our dog and have had great results. We have also used the Woodstock location for boarding. We came home to a very clean and happy dog - we would use them again for sure!

HORRIBLE
Man’s best friend is awful. I cannot believe this place stays in business. We had two of our 7 month old puppies groomed there (they have been to the groomers before in another state). We dropped them off at 9:30 am. At around 3:30 I received a call from the groomer complaining that our boy puppy “peed himself when she started to groom his genitals and now she has to clean him up!” He had been locked up all day with 14 other dogs barking and you just came at his privates with a razor! She was so insensitive and unprofessional! She also said she “might need to cut our girl dog short because she was matted on her paws”. I specifically said DO NOT shave her. We FINALLY got to pick the puppies up at 5:00 pm and she shaved our girl puppy all the way down to her skin! Her skin was cherry red and on top of that the dogs smelled awful! The groomer just laughed and said she had to shave her. Our theory is she just shaved her because she was the last dog she groomed for the day and she wanted to leave. As for the boy his haircut was awful. He had spots that were uneven and she shaved some parts shorter and left the other side long. We showed our groomer from back home and he said this woman had no clue how to cut a dog. It took days for our dogs to get back to normal. They acted like they had been abused at this place. The girl did not want us to touch her yet she wouldn’t leave our side and the boy sulked for days. This groomer does not need to be working with animals.

When the situation occurred I very diligently called you to rectify the situation. As the Manager of the store, I do whatever it takes to make a customer happy. And because you were unhappy with what took place I refunded your money 100%. I also offered you additional services at no charge, which is more than any company would have down. Grooming is not the only service that we provide, so bashing the entire company is not something that I would have expected after speaking with you. We have been in business for 30 years and take alot of pride in what we do. I am very sorry, once again for your experience.

Stellar behavioral training with amazing result!
Our two Rhodesian Ridgebacks were in desperate need of breaking some bad habits; barking at EVERY person or animal passing by our house, selective response to voice commands, chewing household items, aggressive toward other dogs, etc. After reading that Man's Best Friend successfully rehabilitated Michael Vick's fighting Pit Bulls we decided to go with an extensive two week onsite advanced program where our dogs were worked with daily and kenneled nightly. They even opted to keep our dogs an additional week at no extra cost when the process was not progressing at the desired pace. To say the least the MBF staff did a brilliant job training our dogs, the transformation is amazing! Our main trainer Tyler walked our family through all the commands during the exit interview and we also opted for an extended program to come in for follow-up training visits as long as we felt it was needed for consistency purposes. Now our dogs are compliant and listen to voice commands, our home is much more peaceful, their attitude is also much more laid back since we are not having to shout at them. In short, if you want your pet to have proper behavior training by caring AKC registered trainers then I would strongly recommend Man's Best Friend!

MBF is good, Eric makes it great!
Training - Eric is wonderful! He updated me every couple of days when my pup was in "boot camp" and showed me what I needed to know at pick up. We've been training with Eric for over a year now and my pup is great!
It seems expensive, but the initial price is it. I've been going for over a year without additional training costs. However, I adopted a second dog trained at MBF and was charged $200 to be able to bring her back because "lifetime" follows the owner, and all that had to be done was a form change. Kind of defeats the purpose of lifetime, and a big part of the 4 star rating instead of 5 for value.
Grooming - They're flexible and the dogs look great. Their prices are reasonable and they run specials often.
Boarding - The price adds up quick! They charge according to weight with additional charges for crate pads and time outside. It's comparable to others, but just too expensive for me with 2 60+ pound dogs.
Other thoughts - Sometimes management blocks out evening hours for possible evaluations. This makes it very difficult to schedule training when the trainer only works late 2 nights a week and I work until 5:30. It is frustrating to be unable to schedule lessons because management has decided to block evenings out a bit inconsiderate to existing clients, I think. 4 stars for service rather than 5.
Overall, management seems to be more concerned with the money than their clients. However, their staff and trainers are outstanding and I recommend them often!
