SOGGY TACOs, 12/03/2010

Mattas is just not the same at the new location. We visited them right after they opened and were very disappointed. Giving them another chance, we went there last evening. The Tacos were so soggy... you could not pick them up but had to eat them with a fork...@$10.50 for the combo plate I felt like I had been robbed and will not be going back any time soon.

Mattas has gone far downhill., 12/03/2010

having been a longtime resident and having eaten at the old Matta's on main street, I was extremely disappointed in the new Mattas. The food was far below par, the greeters acted like they were doing... you a favor to seat you, never smiled, and wore what looked like hospital attire. The waitress was pleasant enough at first, but the food was served lukewarm, and tastless, with strange tasting meat, and absolutely nothing to like. The rice was absolutely cold, and the managers response to me sending my food back was to yell in the kitchen to ask them to drain the soggy meat.. Even the iced tea tasted canned. Avoid this restaurant. This was our second try, and both times the food and service were below par.

Great food

We have eaten at the Matta's on Higley road several times and have always enjoyed the food. The restaurant always looks neat and clean and the quality to great.

Are they still there?

I love Mattas, great food and atmosphere. They often had a live Mariachi band and the portions were always big and delicious, but last I heard the owner was retiring and they were closing there doors.

Good Food, Good Service

Mesa doesn't have a large choice of good resturants. Matta's has been ther for a long time. The food is great and service to match.

You gotta love Matta's

First time here referred by a Mexican friend of mine who swears by her mom's own cooking. She states this is as close you will get being in Mexico. I had tacos for a change instead of a formal dish which was crispy and delicious.
