Great food meets hole in the wall, 4/26/2009

Their food was outstanding, it had a family atmosphere, every kind of Tuckerite was there, but the place could use some maintenance and it was hard to get exactly what you wanted because the servers... didn't speak English.

catering

My company has been using Matthews Catering for 3 years. The food is great and they always are on time ( very important ). The pork chops and cherry cobbler are killer - always a big hit!

Sweet Jesus - I am addicted

This is by far the best fried chicken i have ever had in my entire life. My wife, a native Georgian, introduced me to this and i am constantly asking her if she wants to go back. It is sparse inside but that adds to the whole southern feel. If you have never been there - try the fried chicken and mac and cheese. I think I am going for lunch now...

Great food, strange atmosphere.

This is the closet you can get to stepping back in time to a 1950's cafeteria (well, because it is one) and the food is all American. Last time I was in they had black berry cobbler, it was as if I was eating my mother's cookng if my mother had ever made blackberry cobbler, and incredible chicken and dumplings. A perfect example of if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Simple decor, but oh, what delicious food and friendly service. Has been an institution in Tucker and you cannot go there without seeing someone you know. Just plain good food.

great community

This is a great community cafeteria. It has been here for many years, and its become a tradition to meet up with certain family friends here. The servers are all very friendly and the food is good.

Meat and 3 or veggies - great

Matthews is what it is. Not fancy - definitely old time southern cafeteria with red and white vinyl table cloths. That being said - if what you're looking for is really good fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn muffins, collard greens, mac n cheese, etc. Then this is a good place to go. It's like a throwback - closes at 8, not open on Sunday. It's lika place I used to go with my grandparents. Maybe that's why I like it so much. I don't eat this kind of food often, but every once in awhile a vegetable plate, cornbread and sweet tea or friend chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra and green beans just call my name!

A little disappointed

When I moved to Tucker, I heard from several people that I had to go to Matthew's Cafeteria. I can't say I've had the best experience. They aren't open weekends, their address on their website is wrong, and they were a little pricey for cafeteria food.
