skilled and professional
We have hired Matthew's Tree Service on two separate occasions to take down large trees nestled between power lines and structures. Both jobs were completed quickly, carefully, and at the estimated cost. Could not ask for more.

return customer
We are returning customers. Matthew is an arborist and knows his business. The first time we used the "crew by the hour" to clear a wooded area, and recently had specific trees removed. Both times the crews were on time, professional, friendly, and did a great job. The crew leader even blew the leaves off the deck although it wasn't even near the work area. The pricing is competitive. We highly recommend Matthew and his staff.

Fast, friendly, and did good work.
After a few years of neglect, our front yard had become overgrown. Ivy and kudzu had slowly claimed the side of the house and small scraggly shrubs had started to grow in unintended places. More seriously, branches from one of our trees were starting to press against the roof and another tree had two large dead branches just waiting to fall in a storm.

When we called, Matthew came out that day to give an estimate for yard rehab and tree trimming. He was very friendly and very professional. Two days later, we came home from work and the job had been done during the day; we never even knew they were there. Our house looks so much better now, and more importantly, the potentially dangerous tree branches are gone. We were both impressed that the job had been so quick and well done.

The only small negative is that the final bill was a couple hundred dollars higher than the estimate, which they had said was a "worst case" estimate. However, they certainly did a very large (and very good) job, so it seems likely that this was just a problem with making an accurate initial estimate. It was definitely a good value for the money.

Overall, I would absolutely use them again and recommend them to others.

“What a Rip-Off!!”
July 2010, Mr. Matthews arrived promptly for his appt with my 70-year old father who resides in Stone Mountain, GA. Mr. Matthews presented my father with a written estimate of $600 to remove and haul away a small dead tree in the back of his home. Unfortunately, my father experienced some health problems after receiving the estimate and could not have the tree removed immediately. Well, as fate would have it, in October 2011 the tree snapped and the top half came crashing down to the ground, fell forward and rested on my father’s garage causing onlly minor damage. Naturally he called Mr. Matthews. While he was not expecting Mr. Matthews to honor a 90-day old $600 estimate, he was not expecting a $2,500.00 bill either!!!! The Invoice read as follows: $1400 to remove tree off the house (huh?), $500 to haul off debris (what?) and $350 for a 20x30 blue tarp (found on Home Depot website for $64.98..??)….Grand Total: $2,250. OMG! Mr. Matthews seriously! What happened????

Whoa…let’s back up a minute. In July, I was asked to bid taking down the one leaning section of the double-stem ash tree that was “still standing” in the backyard. Since my crew was working five minutes away, I was able to offer a price of “$500” since there was minimal travel time involved. On October 13th, I was called out to remove that same leaning section of the ash tree that had snapped off & landed on the house. As a Preferred Provider for many Insurance Companies, we follow the strict standards set by the Homeowners’ Insurance guidelines. Not only was the snapped off section removed from the roof, but also the newly damaged portion that was still standing was taken down. All wood & debris was hauled away, and a temporary tarp was professionally secured to prevent any further damage from the rain that day. The breakdown on the bill was done to exact specifications & was promptly paid in full, to your dad, by his insurance company. Your dad called me last week requesting that I come out personally so that he could pay me rather than mailing a check. He is a very sharp, clever & witty gentleman, whose company I enjoyed very much. Give your dad some credit here. He is hardly someone who would easily be taken advantage of. Shame on you.
