I saw some good reviews on this business and called up Steve for help. He came in, changed out a part, charged me $480 for a $220 part (obviously I had no clue at that time and could not wait and freeze in order to get a second quote) and 1/2 hr of labor and left, never to be heard back from again. No responses to my email inquiries about warranty on the part or the reason for the huge markup in the price. I obviously preferred to contact him by email rather than calling because I wanted his responses in writing, but got nothing out of him in 1.5 months since the service! Steve, I would have appreciated it if you had spent a fraction of the time that you took to find out about my background and respond here, if you had just sent in a one line response to my 2 emails. Obviously you do not care about the customer until there is a possibility that it will hurt your business.

The follow up he's referring to is a e-mail he sent after the job was complete regarding why i charged him double what he found a price online for the same part. (I made the mistake of leaving the box at his house.) I didn't feel that I had to justify the cost of running a company to a guy with a PhD, that works at Ga. Tech, Although I was tempted to refer him to one of his colleagues in the business dept. of the school for which he works for an explanation. I know the price hundreds lower than my competition and by luck i had the conversion kit on my truck what luck we both had for that. The odds of any tech in my field having the kit stocked on their van is about the same as winning the lottery So no labor for part pick-up.Here is his e-mail "Thanks for your help today. Unit is working fine so far. I had a question for you.The online prices for this unit show up in the $220 to $250 range (http://www.cozyparts.com/Lennox-Parts/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=11K95 and http://www.hvacpartsshop.com/combustionairinduceddraftmotors.aspx?page=4). Are you sure you gave me the price of the right product?
Thanks for clarifying. "
Tip: Never leave parts packaging w/ customer... Sir it took no time to research you since your e-mail identifies your level of education and place of employment, however it takes me a long time to type, so yes I will take the time to respond when someone tries to hurt me or my business with reviews such as yours when I know for a fact that your total price was well below market value, remember this is my profession not yours! And one more thing all you had to do was call me. Isn't that how you originally got in touch w/ me? I would have made any changes to the invoice you requested I guess I should have charged you full price of over $600.00. Hind sight is 20 20! You should call some of my competitors and inquire the price for a high wind kit installed on a lennox furnace before you criticize my prices, and its easy to know what you need after you watch me diagnose it. If you could have got the part cheaper then why call me? Exactly! $480.00 was for service call, labor and part.. P.S. I didnt pay nearly what you would have online, but i have to incorporate the expenses associated w/ operating a business... I hope this makes you feel better...Steve
I called Steve on a Friday about maintenance for our system. I read all the reviews on Kudzu and I was looking for a long term relationship for on-going service. I asked if he could come on Sat and he said he would call me Sat and let me know how he was running. He did call and said he couldn't make it but would call me the following week. He never called me back. Because I was too busy anyway I let it go and called him weeks later. He did admit he just forgot me, which I appreciated his honestly. Again, instead of making an "appointment" he asked that I call him Friday afternoon and he would let me know if he could come by then. Again, he said he could not but would come Sat at 10:00am. I waited, left him a message at 10:25 asking him if we was coming and to return the call. At 11:15 I left him a message telling him I was taking my business elsewhere. He never called. I did not appreciate the fact that I was not important enough for an "appointment" and then left me waiting for him on a busy Sat to never call or show up. No thank you to this kind of service.

All I can say is she's right, totally forgot about her...two times at that.. Sorry
I needed someone who wouldn't rip me off to fix my heat. I was concerned that whoever I called was going to tell me I needed a new unit. I read most of the 91 reviews about Metro Heating and Air and as I read, Steve seemed to be "the man." I was soooo glad he was the one to come out to my house. He was personable, real and straight forward. He talked me through EVERYTHING he was doing. He tried alternate methods when something didn't work out. He helped me save $400 by not giving up troubleshooting my problem. I enjoyed Steve and he did impeccable work. I would refer him to ANYONE!!

I called this company to get a second quote after receiving a quote of over $1,000 to fix my AC unit. Metro Heating & Air fixed my unit for $200. It was a big help given this happened just before my wedding.

Had some problems with the AC Unit last year and they came out and did a pretty good job. I guess it depends on which worker is sent out to see your unit because I had some problems with them in the past but not this last time.

Wow a contractor that actually shows up! Metro was very helpful over the phone and spent a good amount of time going over my needs. Instead of trying to upsell me on items that was not necessary I was only sold for what was needed to get me back up and running. I have already sent one referral and it will not be my last.

Thank You! To add to this story, his wife works for one of the largest hvac companies around. I was told that it was difficult to even get them to the house and when they finally came they said she needed a new system at over $6000.00. The system was a little over 6 years old and only ha a cracked drain pan. I fixed the problem for a little over $200.00 then i fixed some other issues as well all for under$800.00. All I can say is thats taking good care of your employees...WOW
Steve claimed that as an HVAC guy, he also knew plumbing. When trying to fix my shower, he heated up the water controller unit, causing insulation to catch on fire. I had to call the fire dept to quell the smoke, let alone get my wife, two kids, and a dog out of the house. He said he would cover the costs to repair the damage, but has refused to pay, pleading poverty. Since he won't pay for his mistake, I will likely now have to sue him. Be cautious!

I called for a Maintenance visit on my A/C I just wanted to be sure that everything was running correctly. I asked how much it would be and was quoted a rate that I felt was reasonable. Steve said he'd have someone over today - that part was great. David came to do the service call. When he was finished he presented me with a bill for 2.5 times more than I was quoted. He explained that he added 1 lb of freon plus charged me for an additional 30 minutes labor (that was the total time he was at my home). When I explained that I had called for a maintenance visit and already been quoted a price, he attempted to contact the office. They got disconnected but he agreed to only charge me the amount I was originally quoted. That was fair but it did make me worry about how they charge for service. On the plus side, he did not try to sell me anything additional, so I felt that he was honest in his assessment of my A/C - which is what I wanted to begin with.

My AC recently fell victim to the electrical storms that week. I called Steve on Friday evening and he was at my house the next morning. He quickly discerned that my circuit board was blown but was able to at least get the fan to blow so that I wouldn't melt to death while he got the part in. He also made sure that my freon levels were where they should have been. The honest truth is that he did that and it didn't take long at all. He ordered the part for me and sent David out promptly to switch the boards. David switched the boards and ran several tests to make sure that the fan switched on and off accordingly. Both guys were very personable and professional. They did not look to rip me off by telling me that I needed another unit when I clearly did not. I will use them for any other issues that I have as well as for system service. I highly recommend Metro Heating and Air.

Responded very quickly the 1st service call, repaired a hole in AC line and recharged the system, it lasted 3 weeks. 2nd time wanted around $1200 for compressor, decided to just swap identical (paid a service call fee for this visit, less than three weeks his work). Sent a new guy out to swap the units for $400, well I got 5 weeks out of this service, it went out again. This time I'm told the air handler motor is out, well it was working last night, and if a AC unit is a sealed system why did your guy have to pump freon in it,because it was low, which means you never did the 1st call correct and you cost me a good heat pump. I picked this guy because of his reviews, boy was that a mistake, and doesn't back up his repair work, just charges more and more and more.

The first visit I found no freon in the unit due to a rat chewing a hole in the liquid line, I repaired, then a month later he called back. The compressor was locked up and would not start, he has two identical 14 YEAR OLD heat pumps, so he asked us to replaced the defective unit w/ the working unit which we did for a very very low price. Now 1 1/2 months later we go back and the variable speed motor is not working correctly. He is not there to see that the motor is the problem so I send David to his next call. He calls me and basically says I ripping him off and hangs up on me. When the next company comes out and tells you the motor needs replacing I expect you to be a man and correct your review. By the way, if the motor is not spinning correctly your pressures will read low. David started to add freon to no avail that's what led him to the motor. If you would have listened to me instead of hanging up on me prematurely I could have explained this to you, I'm not the bad guy here, and its not my fault. When the next company comes out, your in for a rude awakening. I back up my work when I rarely have the need to but your situation doesn't warrant it! Our work is good as you will find out when the next company comes out... Your leaving me a bad review before you even get a second opinion... Go figure. To say I don't back up my work is B.S. If this is the case why did I come out this morning?
We had a leaking coil in our inside unit. Had been quoted replacement by some of the "big boys". Steve did the replacement promptly and for a fair price with a decent warranty. I will use Metro again!

I had the unfortunate issue of needing some HVAC help - I called the contractor I had used before lets say Somebody's "Choice" and he wanted to sell me a new unit - thanks but no. Called closest Ruud contractor to me in Dunwoody and got ___ Tech - he concluded after charging me hundreds of dollars that I needed a new Compressor - his price for a compressor change out was laughable - compressor was under warranty. So I called Steve and his price was good and his reviews were good. Steve came out when he said he would sooner than the others I had contacted - after arriving and one step Steve correctly diagnosed the problem and corrected it at less than what his estimate was to me for a compressor change out. Even though Steve made less money he corrected the problem. Steve also noticed that my coil sensor bulb had never been installed - unit in for 7 years and Steve corrected that also. There are many contractors out there and at least two that I would not call back ever. Steve makes the preffered list. Tell Steve your HVAC problem and I bet he can figure it out for you!

I called for an estimate and the guy on the phone was extremely rude. He spoke to me as if I were an idiot and should know everything about the AC repair process. Probably just this one person, but I definitely crossed them off my list because of him. Metro Mgt, if you're reading this, I called at 11:25AM on 6/9. I would have a discussion with your staff on how to engage in proper customer service. Absolutely appalled by the tone of voice, condescension and all around lack of professionalism. Again, probably one guy, but that one guy lost you a potential sale. Sorry. ***** ***** ***** ***** Update 6/9/08 12:55PM: Thanks for backing up my review, Steve! POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS BEWARE: If the comment below isn't evidence of the service you will receive, I don't know what is. Btw, I called Heimler AC and RK AC (both on Kudzu) after dealing w/ Metro and both had prompt & courteous reps......and better pricing. You do the math.

You spoke to me... Steve. Were extremely busy right now, we probably couldn't get to you right now, hence this review. I think you need a waaahbulance, i'll call one for you! Update, Update. Look buddy, i have 18 new e-mails from you leaving your review, are you finished? Honestly it wasn't intentional sorry I made you feel the way you do. I wish you could spend the day w/ me when its 96 deg. outside. I know i am going through some growing pains and also that I can't please everyone. Take care, Karma will be visiting you....
I have had to call Metro Heating and Air twice last year and on both occations, their service was spectacular. They arrived in a timely manner, diagnosed the issue quickly, and fixed it. Their prices were reasonable as well.
