My wife and I had heard from a friend to avoid going to Metropolitan Granite. Boy I am glad we didn't listen to them! We went everywhere else first and couldn't believe the prices and the choices just didn't compare to what Metropolitan Granite. It just goes to show you that when it comes to picking out things for your home, you have to go with you want and do your homework. Going into Metropolitan Granite was the best choice we made.

I wanted granite countertops for a long time but was nervous about the price and worried that they would go out of style. Once I looked around every place I could find that carried them, I was even more nervous. That is, until I walked into Metropolitan Granite. They had the best selection of anywhere 100 miles around and they had competitive prices that meant it granite was more affordable than I originally thought. I was beyond pleased with the pieces I was shown and the finished product is everything I dreamed it would be.

Want proof go to the better business bureau web site and you will find an "F" rating on them. My experience with them was I paid a deposit for my granite slab and they dropped it and it broke. I could not find the color again so I asked for my money back. They would not return it so I had to take them to small claims court and won and I am still trying to collect my money.

Metropolitan was recommended by a contractor friend as a reasonable cost vendor. When the slab we selected arrived (Rosewood), my wife and I selected the region we wanted for an "L" shape counter of our kitchen. The lower left section of the slab had a large area of salmon color to it which we did not want but there was enough room for the "L" shape and two other smaller sections. Because the counter was captured by two walls, it would need to be installed in two pieces with one piece cut on a slight taper to account for a .38" taper in one wall. We asked for installation by Thanksgiving and they agreed but it would be very close to the holiday. A week before Thanksgiving I called and asked for an update. It turns out the slab had not been ordered and would not be in before Thanksgiving. The counter was installed two weeks late and the seam of the two pieces did not match up color and pattern wise. The slab had a fracture in the upper section which forced them to use the part of the slab we did not want. The two sections were too long and the one end did not have a taper to match the wall. They never made an effort to contact us about the changes, just showed up to install. Not enough space left here to explain how they made it fit (poorly). Bottom Line, a negative experience all around.

I been reading some of these other reviews and I'm confused. They did a great job! Great service! Great price! I will say this, choosing to beautify your home is tricky. You gotta know what you want. The people at Met Granite Rochester knew their stuff and helped out a lot. But I know who has to live there when its all said and done. I loved the job they did.

Once they got our deposit they did not return calls, took 3 times as longer to deliver the promised in writing, there were many quality issues and wanted payment the SECOND they finished. I would never recommend them.

This company received an 'F' (Unsatisfactory) rating with a well known consumer awareness service and for good reason. This is evidenced by not standing behind their work and refusals to resolve customer complaints. Beware before you buy!
