Excellent service
I went to Midtown Tire this morning with various problems on a foreign vehicle. The service at Midtown Tire was incredible. Not only did they immediately begin working on my car but they were able to fix everything. The mechanic working on my vehicle was very knowledgeable about specific problems that arise with the make/model and showed me exactly what he did to fix it. They even recommended a mechanic that specializes in my type of vehicle just so I had the number on hand in case another problem came up. I will probably end up using their recommended mechanic but I'm going to bring it back to Midtown Tire first before I take it anywhere else.

Totally incompetent and questionable integrity
Totally incompetent and questionable integrity I took my car in for diagnostic testing when my check engine light came on. I was informed my car needed $4000 in repairs. They said both catalytic converters needed to be replaced and my car wasn't safe to drive. I went elsewhere for a second opinion and ended up paying $250 for repairs (and that included the emissions test). My car needed NONE of the things Midtown Tire told me it needed and to top it off they charged me $150 for that misdiagnosis. I went back to request a refund, which they gave me, but they were arrogant and condescending about it. I was told my car might be running right now, but they doubted it had been properly repaired and I would be back. I wouldn't go back to Midtown Tire for a bandaid if I was bleeding to death. CROOKS.

I gave them a second chance and they managed to screw that up too.....
I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially those who have limited automobile knowledge. I took my car to Midtown Tire to get the oil changed and have the brakes checked. They called me at lunchtime and told me that I needed to have a belt changed. They said the belt was cracked and worn. I normally take my car to a family friend to have that kind of maintenance done, but because of the convenience factor I figured I would just let them handle it. I picked my car up and immediately noticed that it was acting funny. Every time I stopped at a stop light when the A/C was on, the car would die.I took my car to my mechanic after all of this and he said that the belts DEFINITELY DID NOT need to be changed (he checks that every few months when I take my car to get service). My mechanic said the not only did they perform unnecessary maintenance, but they did it poorly (they also charged me $165 to change the belt).A few months later I was in the city again and had another car problem, but this time it was just a screw in a tire. I figured I would give this place one more chance by letting them repair a simple tire puncture. The screw was right in the middle of the tire, so I figured there would be no problem. We got a call from them a few hours after we dropped the tire off and they said that the puncture wound was too large to patch and they recommended we purchase a new tire (~$100). I new that was a load of BS and they were just trying to make a quick $, so we picked up the tire and took it to the NTB in Decatur. They fixed the tire in 10 minutes and didn't charge us anything.Bottom line - this place has unethical business practices, overcharges for maintenance and repairs (they wanted $25 to fix the flat), and performs lousy service.I have never written a review about anything before, but this place was so bad that they inspired me to let others know how truly lousy they are....
