Minato consistently has the most flavorful, fabulous sushi and rolls I have ever had. This is saying something as I am a sushi snob who has previously had favorite sushi restaurants in NYC and Boston (don't get me started about bagels). I have been going to Minato approximately 2xs/month for 10 years and have never been disappointed. As for the staff. Wonderful, carrying, funny, and hardworking. What can you say about a team of folks who took one look at a pair of new parents trying to eat sushi with one hand while standing up and bouncing and (with our everlasting permission and gratitude) took, held, and kept the baby entertained so we could have conversation and sit down to eat. Pat, Tony, Kevin, and Philip are an extended part of our family and "Minato" was one of our son's first words. Go to Minato, Enjoy Minato, you will not regret it!

My wife and I were somewhat skeptical when we walked up to a disfigured door in the back of a sketchy shopping center. Things didn't get any better when we walked over a fake wooden bridge past an aquarium with no live fish. We ordered sake and a spicy tuna roll to check out the place. The sake was disgusting, but the spicy tuna roll was good so we ordered a few more rolls. When they came to the table they were so unappetizing, we were actually afraid to eat them. We left a generous tip and vowed never to go back. There are so many other great Sushi restaurants in this area, avoid this at all costs.

Minato was my first experience with sushi. I started off with the "safe" choices, mostly rolls with cooked seafood. Now I make it a point to try something different each time. I usually let Pat, Phillip, or Tony pick something for me and I am never disappointed. This is a family run business unlike I have ever experienced. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and I am always greeted with a hug and a large ice cold Sapporo. Believe me when I say once you have tried sushi at Minato you will not want to go anywhere else!

The sushi is great. The staff is great. Pat and Frank great us and treat me like family whenever I go there. Try the cowboy hat or Pat sushi when you go. Everyone I have taken there say that Minato's has the best sushi they've had in the Atlanta area.

Minato is so good it's worth not sharing. The sushi is awesome and the meals are too die for. I recommend the ginger pork and the last roll. It's better priced at lunch, but when the crowd rolls in, it gets a little slow. Totally worth it though.

I have been going regulary for the past few weeks and I always enjoy my sushi rolls. I think the appetizer portions are a little small, but tasty, and I love the super crunch roll, but I would like a little more variety in the sushi menu. The service is good and the staff is very friendly. The service can suffer a bit when busy.

For excellent Japanese and sushi, this is the place to be in Smyrna. We found it almost by accident over a year ago, and now we're regulars who eat there almost once a week! The entire staff is friendly, and know your name within just a few visits. The service is attentive, the food is quick, well-priced and most importantly, delicious. The atmosphere is fantastic and you immediately feel welcomed and like part of the family. Definitely the best sushi place around!
