I found Miramar Automotive by using YELP (sorry), but their reviews were spot on. Rich & Ray were honest (even with the bad news they had for me). They worked within my skin tight budget & were polite & professional throughout the whole process. They were also less expensive than several other shops. I've finally found an honest shop & even though my truck is a clunker, I know I have someone to trust to fix it.

I've been going to Miramar Automotive for about four years now and it just keeps getting better. The never feed me tons of crap like the rest of the shops do and when it comes down to the cost of the repair I always have money left to spend for family time. If you don't know now you know. That's Miramar Automotive in a nutshell. Ray was very helpful over the phone gave me a reasonable quote right over the phone no hassell or questions asked.

I ran an auto shop for about 10 years but I got out of auto repair a few years ago. I'm new to San Diego so I was trying to find a place close to work to have my car serviced. I heard about Miramar Auto from a co worker. This place is like a blast from the past. The owner Richard, has run this place for some 30 years. I could tell right away that this guy really knows his stuff. He's very old school, fixes cars because he loves to. Let me tell you, from someone who used to run a shop, this is a pretty good place. I will bring my cars here.

Very friendly staff and they do their work quick which was nice. I feel the labor was a little overpriced but worth it. What got me was that the recommended repairs were way overpriced (after research), and my engine seemed out of order. Bolts were missing and my alarm no longer works. Other than that i wont have a full review until i take it to another shop for an opinion. where i stand right now is that i wont go back unless another shop or 2 confirm that i need what they recommended. such is the responsibilities of getting your car fixed by unknown places: trial and error. I noticed on here that they only respond to negative reviews, that's why i wanted to be honest i have no grudge, i'm new in town, but i feel like i could find a better shop...but ty for the quick work guyz!

I have been a customer of Miramar Auto for over 13 yrs; 2 cars needing 5-6 major repairs (Timing belt, major wheel/axle repair, etc) and 2-3 minimal repairs (oil change, replace brake pads, etc). I have never felt ripped off by them until twice in the the past 6 months. Previously I felt I was getting a good repair at a good price w/ them. Now I KNOW I am making somebody's vette or boat payment each time I go there. W/in the past 6-mos I have taken the car there twice. On each occasion, I have been overcharged and treated by staff there as if I am stupid and cannot tell I am being now ripped off. When I pointed out that the cost of my last two repairs-a front axle rebuild and a clutch repair-together added up to about the current value of my vehicle, the owner laughed and said "Yeah, you're probably right." 6-mos ago I brought in the car for preventative maint and told the owner I did not want to spend an arm/leg on repairs. He winked and said, "We'll work something out." This later translated to a 2% discount on repairs (on a bill over $1000). Big Whoop!! Most currently I was offered a 5% discount on a $1000 repair bill; a $50 discount. When I asked if there were other discounts avail, the owner could only find an addditional 2% discount- a coupon deal for new custs, then griped because I didn't bring in a physical coupon. I say there are plenty of other AAA rated shops in mira mesa, possibly with less expensive boat or mortage pmts and want ur biz.

Kevin, after 13 years as a customer of mine I just wanted to say I'm very sad you chose this venue to speak. I would've hoped if you had problem with me that you would've chosen to speak to me personally. But since you won't return my calls and emailed me to leave you alone I thought I would reply here. I realize you and Heidi have fallen on hard times by both of you being out of work. We're seeing that everyday. The economy is rough on everyone right now. But just because you want a cheaper price for something AFTER you agreed to the price doesn't mean we can just start hacking off chunks of money for the job. You were offered the same AAA discount that all AAA shops give. AAA shops are held to a higher standard which means not taking shortcuts and using premium parts. It seems to me that you should've never agreed to the price beforehand and chose to go somewhere that charged more to your liking. You stated we ripped you off. So I called 3 other AAA shops in the area and found we were all within $40 of being the same for that repair. You also stated that you were making someone's Vette, a boat payment or high mortgage payment. I don't own a Vette or a boat and have lived in the same house since 1989. I'm sorry you were offended by my laugh when you said the repair was more than the car was worth. I was just trying to lighten a very tense mood. I too just spent more to repair my 1998 Crown Victoria then it was worth. Cars are not like houses, they don't hold their value. Good cars should be viewed as reliable transportation not investments. Labor cost and parts will continue to rise as your car becomes worth less. I'm sorry you're hurt Kevin. But don't forget you still have your 1 year nationwide warranty on that repair. Good luck and I hope things improve for you and Heidi in the near future.
Always can count that my care will be repaired. Great service, and reasonable cost. Highly recommend these guys after going to them for over seven years. Can always count on their work, and my car always runs well when I take their suggestions.

I have been taking my vehicles to Miramar Automotive for 15 years now. Their customer service is great. Rich recently spent time helping me find a solution to a problem I was having with my car, even when it was a warranty item that would have to be taken care of by a dealer. Laurel Nelson

they wanted to replace my brakes when they didn't need it. after their recommendation i took it to another place for a second opinion/quote. He looked at the brakes and said I have at least another year on them that they didn't need replaced.

I am so glad to have this place to tell more people about Miramar Automotive. We have been taking all our cars there for over 14 years; now our kids do too. They have won the AAA award for excellence year after year, and I can tell you why! For one thing, I have never had a repair cost me more than their estimate, usually less. And their rates are reasonable to begin with, and they take all major credit cards. They offer an AAA discount. They are honest. If the car seems to need one thing and they then find it doesn't, they would never go ahead and do that repair anyway to get the money. They will offer money-saving ideas, too, as well as really keeping an eye on maintenance issues. They let us know if a repair is under warranty to save us money. They keep all our maintenance records in their computer and know all our cars, usually starting from a AAA pre-purchase car inspection if we buy a used car. They have always had the car ready when promised or before, and if anything that takes more time shows up for those mystery problem investigations that arise sometimes, they make sure we still have the option of getting the car back together when promised ~ rescheduling if necessary to complete the work. With our busy lives, this means a lot to me. If work on a car requires an overnight stay, they have a secure, indoor place to keep it. Rich and Ray are just really nice guys & their mechanics have been with them a long time. Go see for yourself!

As a female, going to the auto repair shop can be an intimidating experience; however, Miramar Automotive was great! Ray, the Service Advisor actually talked to me, he explain what was going on with my car, the problems and solutions. I got a great price and great service. I finally found a shop I can trust. Thank you!

Ok, it's true. I'm like everyone else. I like to find a good deal. But I don't want something cheap. I shop for quality. I was impressed with Miramar Automotive after knowing they were AAA and reading their Kudzu reviews. To my surprise, their web site had coupons. A bunch of them. So did I get my great deal? YES. Got my brakes done on my car - great price, great warranty and my brakes never felt better. This is my new shop. A+

I went in to Miramar Automotive recently for a routine oil change. They found a defective brake pad making a noise. They did the brakes originally. Way out of warranty. They blew my mind when they redid the whole job for free. Was not expecting that. The whole AAA Aproved stuff is right on with these guys.

I searched online for reviews on an honest shop. Found a lot of great things about Miramar Automotive. They were AAA Approved so I thought why not try them. WOW! Great place. I was sure it was going to be a lot of money for something I didn't understand. Totally different. This place is great. They explained everything to me so that I understood (which is a challenge in itself). My problem was solved and for half the price of what the dealer quoted. My new place.

The owner is Rich Gingery. 10 seconds with him and you'll know this guy really knows his stuff! I was blown away just sitting there in the waiting room and listening to what people said when they picked up their car. You would think they were all his family. What tops it all is that this place is very affordable. Glad I found this car repair shop. Will use from now on.
