I generally don't like to write reviews over things that take a long time to truly know what level of service was provided to you. I've taken in my 2005 Saab 9-3 to them twice in 3 years for regular... scheduled major service. PRICE: They are head and shoulders above the dealership on price. The quality of work is fine. My latest visit I also needed them to install a new rear quarter panel lens, of which I was only charged a fraction of an hour for labor (i supplied the part). No gimmicks. SERVICE: My first visit with them I believe did take a few days to do, but I prepared myself for that. Sometimes you just need to ask the right questions ahead of time so YOU are the customer are prepared and informed, which is what should always be required of the customer. For, the most recent visit last month, I had to go out of town so I dropped off my car for the WEEK and Steve happily arranged for a ride to the metro to get me to the airport. Great service. Free parking also! :) Some older reviews paint Steve as a terrible provider of customer service, but I found him to be a good guy, albeit a little straightforward. He did let me know up front what he would and wouldn't be able to fix on a recent inquiry. But seriously though, where else are you gonna call that has Guns N Roses "Sweet Child of Mine" blasting in the background? Stay awesome, Steve.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »
I've been a customer the entire 37 years Munich West has been in business, because of their extremely knowledgable, high quality and fairly priced work, and especially their honesty. If they suspect... a certain problem by phone and it turns out something less serious, they say so and bill accordingly, even though I wouldn't have any practical way to independently know the truth. And on the rare occasion when they've make a mistake, they've voluntarily admitted it! And fixed it. Steve, Mike and Munich West are the best. Period.VIEW MORE »VIEW LESS »

I went very far out of my way to take my car to Munich West based on the recommendation of a friend. I received poor/rude treatment. I am so disappointed. Three strikes and you're out Munich West: 1. They charged me $56 to run a scan on my Volvo for a check engine light. Hmmm... let's see... Crank car, plug in, read output, collect $56. Does that seem fair to you? If so, I have a time share in the Bahamas I would like to talk to you about. 2. When trying to figure out a way to return to Munich West to get my $56 worth by getting them to actually run a THOROUGH scan on my car, they were not willing to work with me AT ALL. They wouldn't allow me to bring the car in and wait, they would only allow me to bring the car in at 8am and rent a car, and they aren't open on weekends... so now I need to take time off from work. Sounds to me like my total is now $56 + $46 (rental) + 2 hours off from work to make sure I don't have to rent the car for an extra day. 3. STRIKE 3. When trying to figure out a way to not have to spend OVER $100 just to find out what is wrong with my car, I called Munich West. Talk about customer service!!! The fellow in charge remembered me and YELLED at me that they only do oil changes and computer read outs past 1pm. Hm. Somebody had a case of the Wednesdays. Result: I refused to give Munich West my money, and immediately called Braxton Automotive on Howell Mill.
They didn't try to sell me what I didn't need (I'm a woman so I have encountered that elsewhere a lot). The repairs I had done solved my problems. VERY HAPPY! Got helpful general auto advice from REAL skilled mechanics who know what they're doing (as opposed to those idiots at the dealerships that have told me a bunch of bull since day one) I saved over 40% by giving my business to Munich West and enjoyed the experience. Will be taking my car here for ALL my BMW needs.
Just got rid of my 1997 Saab 900, but thought I should put in a good word for these guys before I forget. Took my car to them probably 10-15 times in 8 years. Never once tried to sell me on work I didn't need done. Steve's unfailingly pleasant to deal with. Mechanics really seem to know what they're doing.
I recently required 60K service as well as investigating a slow oil leak on my vehicle. I contacted the dealership and was astounded by the price. Since I've used Kudzu for other services I went searching. I found Munich West and read the reviews. In the meantime I had to go on a trip and my drivers windows cable broke. I called the shop and told them about the window and that my car, 2003 SAAB, was also in need of its 60K service. Much to my surprise I was told they would check the window to verify that it was indeed broken prior to beginning any service and conduct my 60K service. Boy was I shocked when they called to give me the price! Can you believe they fixed the window and performed the 60K service for less than half of what the dealership wanted!!! OMGosh! My car is humming and I have a one year warranty. I still am shocked that there truly are businesses out here that aren't trying to wipe out your savings. I obtained top notch service and have found a business that I can count on in the future to keep my car in tip top running condition. If you possess any of the specialty cars these guys work on turn tail and run to the shop. You will NOT be disappointed.
Still true. I wrote this review last year and have since been to see Steve at Munich West for my brakes and other scheduled services. They really do an incredible job. Definitely take your car there for it's maintenance or major repair. You will be glad you did. I have tried to like the dealership service depts. They have coffee and donuts and semi plush waiting areas and semi talented service reps, but how are the mechanics? Are they really better and more motivated than private owner operated shops? Uh no. No way. I get better care and service for a 1/3 of the cost of the local dealers at Munich West. They charge a fair fee for their skill care and judgement. My X-5 just goes. No whining or rattles or issues. They even helped me with a new, used car selection. Call for a consultation or make and appointment. You will love what they can do for your car or large fast SAV.
Best place to take your BMW, I'm a big comparison shopper, and Munich West was always professional, honest, and reliable. Whenever I needed a repair, I always compared the prices of the parts from what I could get online versus what a mechanic would charge. At Munich West they were always dead on, even if it meant they were only making $45 on a repair with a $500 part. Hated to sell my BMW cause I'd have to find another mechanic. The followup letters and discounts were always a great perk too.
wrote a review back in 2006 after i took my bmw x5 here. since that time i have consistently used munich west w/the same level of quality workmanship and competitive pricing. just had my 30,000 mile service and my car is hummin'!! do yourself and your car a favor and check out steve and company at munich. thanks guys.
